Sorry for my grossly extended absence everyone! I have been terribly busy, but I hope now I can get back on track with all the stories that are currently in progress and those yet to come. To fill in until I get some of those up, here is a short one-shot that was suddenly inspired by looking up voice actors out of curiosity. It always made me laugh how the Autobots had accents that sounded like Earth accents even though they'd never even set foot on the planet before. Enjoy!
All mentioned Cybertronians belong to Hasbro/Hastak, but the unnamed female character belongs to me. Storyline and idea belongs to me. Please do not copy or post this story elsewhere without my given permission. Stealing is wrong, people. Thank you.
The sun was setting, and the sky had been painted in all shades of red, yellow, and purple. Two silhouettes sat close to each other on the edge of the sloping hill, gazing out on the darkening world as it was painted with the blood dying sunlight; one an Autobot, the other a young human female. Both sat in a comfortable silence until the much smaller of the two shifted her stance in a way that indicated speech was about to break the gently humming silence.
"Hey, Redalert…"
"Yes?" The Security Officer looked down at his charge, watching the young girl tilt her head from one side to the other contemplatively. She flicked back a thick lock of curly brown hair that had fallen in her face and pushed her large glasses back up her nose.
"Why is it that everyone has an accent that is reminiscent of Earth accents when you haven't ever been on this planet before?" That question caught Redalert off guard, and he was struck silent. Why, indeed.
"Uh…"
"I mean, you more or less have a British accent, and so does Trailbreaker and Perceptor. And Cosmos…well, I can't even begin to guess what accent Cosmos has," she went on, her brow furrowing with thought. "Ironhide sounds Texan, Jazz does that slang thing, and even Inferno sounds slightly English!" The girl pursed her lips and sat back on the heels of her hands while she waited for an answer to this puzzle.
"I…I really don't know," Redalert admitted after a moment of intense thoughtful silence, looking back at the scene before him and watching as the sun ebbed closer to the ground. "Does it matter?"
The girl smiled softly, closing her eyes as the last dying rays of the sun hit her face like the gentle fingers of a flickering fire.
"No, it really doesn't."
