Someone To Watch Over Me

Kara awoke slowly. She felt like she was being watched. Yet, she did not feel afraid. She carefully opened her eyes to take in her surroundings and discovered she was in her rack from the night before. Or what she remembered from the night before. Last she remembered she was in the rec room playing triad and there was lots of ambrosia flowing. Especially down her throat.

From the recesses of her rack; with her curtain pulled but slightly opened at one end, she looked across the small walkway between the bunks where her vision crashed headlong into the most beautiful set of brilliant blue eyes staring at her. From where she was; she could see him but he could not see her face. She gasped inaudibly at the strong connection and pull that was drawing her to him. It was like he was staring into her very soul and wrapping himself around her heart. His gaze was steady and strong. Piercing. The aura around the edge of his pupils was sparkling with intensity. Showing warmth and kindness, concern and knowing, and what was that? Could her eyes be playing tricks on her? Was that… no it couldn't be. He loved her. But only like a sister. Like a friend, Right? And how did that make her feel? Did she love him; more than a friend? More than a part of the Adama family that he and his father have enveloped her in?

Staring secretly into his eyes, she began to ponder. He was always looking after her with those eyes. Those fraking, beautiful, piercing blue eyes. Always, keeping her within his vision. Never leaving her go. Not completely.

There had been all those times when she was in hack. He would come and spring her out. But not without screaming and lecturing all the while fixing her with those eyes; always, watching with those eyes.

Then there was the time she was lost on that moon and she remembered what they had told her about the Adama men never stopping their search. Always looking until they found her. The recognition of her "waggle" while flying the raider off that moon towards the Galactica. For him to recognize her flying. She knew he had been watching her for some time. And; again, those eyes staring into her soul with relief when she was extricated from the raider. He was making jokes at her expense at the time but she was so lost in those watchful eyes to care.

How many times has he had her six while flying? Thinking about flying always brought a smile to her face. Gods, she loved flying, especially with him. They could probably fly blindfolded together and he would still see and match her every move. He would feel her rhythm, hear her heart beat and know instinctually where she would be.

When she returned from Caprica with the Arrow of Apollo, he was waiting for her. He embraced her and kissed her. Showing her with his touch how long he had been watching and waiting for her return. Her lips; even now, tingled with the memory. The confession later that day showed in his eyes today. "I'm here for you, Kara. I love you." "There are no take backs. Lee Adama loves me." I see it now in his eyes.

I pull the curtain back fully and stick my head out. "Hey Lee." "Hey." Lee replied, as a smile spreads across his face. His eyes never leaving mine. It's good to know; as long as Lee is there, I will always have someone to watch over me.
