A Stolen Kiss

"Ginny," begged Dean, his eyes filling up with tears. He blinked them away angrily; there was enough rain today without him adding his two pence.

"Leave me alone," was Ginny's reply. "I told you years ago that I didn't want to be with you." Her voice was unemotional, her fiery red hair hanging in soaking streaks around those devastating ruby lips that were spilling out catastrophic words.

"When did you get so beautiful?" breathed Dean.

The slap came out of nowhere.

"That's a way to win me over!" Ginny shrieked.

Dean winced involuntarily, his cheek stinging. His eyes watered but there was no way in Merlin's heaven she was going to see him cry.

"What was that for?" he asked her, trying to be gentle, to be understanding, still undecided on whether he had earned the assault or not. He was pretty sure he hadn't deserved it though.

"For coming over here in the first place!" screeched Ginny. "For thinking you can just march into my married life and steal back your high school girlfriend!" She wiped something away from her eye; Dean couldn't tell whether it was a tear or a raindrop.

Ginny walked away, leaving Dean stood at the gate, the rain falling around him like heavy tears threatening to drown him. She didn't look back so she didn't see him wipe his face on his sleeve. She didn't witness the steely glare that now plastered his rain spattered face.

He took a determined step after her, then another, then another.

"Ginny!" he called and by the time she had turned around they were face to face.

"Go away, Dean," she said, glaring at him. If looks could kill, Dean would have been buried in his grave by this point. But looks didn't kill and Dean grabbed her head, his fingers slipping through her soaking locks.

"This is because I still love you," he whispered.

Then he kissed her full in the lips.

The rain was still falling around them, beating a muffled rhythm into the muddy ground.

As Dean walked away from Ginny, he smiled to himself. There was still a chance he could win her over. There was always a chance.

The End
