I've never tried this before, but the idea came to me when I was out walking, so thought I would try and actually write it. No idea if it's any good. If anyone likes it I will carry it on. Not a clue where the story might go, but I'm willing to give it a try

Chapter 1

I never thought I would be here, sat waiting to watch my husband marry another woman. Quite a shocking statement that, my lips tightened, relax I told myself, just relax and then I can leave, go home and forget this ever happened. Here I was waiting to watching another woman vow to spend the rest of her life with a man who vowed to do the same with me, not 7 years ago. The king gave the signal for the room to rise to their feet in order to welcome the bride, everyone turned to watch the her glide down the aisle, a small smile gracing her lips, I couldn't bring myself to turn my head, my eyes wouldn't move away from the man standing a few meters away from me. I felt a hand touch mine, making me aware of how tightly my fist was clenched, my nails painfully digging into the palm of my hand. I was thankful he was here, thankful that in less than an hour I could fall into his arms and cry out my pain away from the concerned gaze of the others.

She entered my line of sight, blue, she wore blue, a long flowing dress with a fitted corset, and it was beautiful. Her long loose hair was adorned with white flowers. I couldn't bring myself to hate her, she was an innocent in all this, and this was happening because of a choice I had made 5 years before. A choice that changed my future, set my path in a different direction, I did this for him, if I hadn't had made that decision he would be dead and I would be alone. I suppose I am alone now anyway, but he's alive, I have to hang on to that thought, to get me through this I have to remember why I chose to do what I did. There was no other option, no other possible way out.

The groom, my husband, held out his hand to her, a smile on his face, his eyes bright. The guests retook their seats, silence overtook the room, the silence was nearly all I could take, and the anticipation of what was to come turned my stomach. I clenched my eyes closed. I felt his hand again, brushing across my arm, I opened my eyes and met his gaze, the sympathy he felt was evident across his face. I tried to smile at him, tried to reassure him that I was alright, but I couldn't, my face seemed frozen, alien to me. I heard the King begin his speech that would unite them in marriage for the rest of their natural lives. I tried to make out the words, but I just heard the rush of my blood and the beat of my heart. As I said before, I never expected to be here, watching my husband, the love of my life marrying another woman. I suppose I should start at the beginning, start at where it all went wrong. My name is Roslyn Longheart, I'm from a different world, and 5 years ago I made a deal with the devil.
