"These aren't just pests you can squish under your feet with no remorse. They feel. They love. They hurt. We are hurting them-"
"So what?! You think we should just leave?"
"Yes!"
"Have you forgotten why we came here!? Do you want our species to die?!"
"There are other ways-"
"No! Fragments just produce weak little stones who have to fuse together to be worth anything," juts chin towards the garnet fusion behind her, "Is that what you want us to become? Is that the legacy you want?"
"Its better than the legacy we're making here."
"We, will be, Victorious Conquerors!"
"A Legacy of hate and genocide? You're proud of that? You can look these Gems in the eye, and tell them we destroyed the life of an entire planet, that they're the reason we killed millions of beings? And you want them to live knowing that? I won't stand for it!"
"Euugh, Fine! Don't tell them. This puny planet will be purified long before the Kindergarten starts producing. They'll never have to know, okay?"
There are murmurings behind her, maybe they could compromise, maybe they wouldn't have to fight. But their leader did not waver.
"You would lie to them."
"Not everyone is entitled to the full truth, you know that yourself."
She shook her head, it was different, "You would lie to an entire generation of our people."
"Stop being dramatic-"
"You would lie, to promote your own agenda. If you would do it to them, why should I believe you now? Why should anyone believe in this … this invasion! Why should anyone believe in YOU!"
The murmurs shift, fighting would be better than following a corrupt leader, dying for what they believe in would be better than living for what they don't.
"I won't let you do this," she continued, reaffirmed.
"You think you can stop it? You think you can stop US?"
She nodded solemnly, "If you insist on continuing the path you are on… then I will stop you."
"If you insist on trying… If you or your little tribe even tries to interfere… we will destroy every last one of you traitorous scum-loving clods, and we will smash. your cold. broken. gems. into shards so small that not even your legacy can hope to live on. You'll be nothing more than dust, dirt be-"
"Earth! It's called Earth. And I will protect it. With my power, my life, and everythingI am, I will protect all of them."
Eyeing the veritable army of witnesses behind her, panicking, realizing they're on her side, "She is a Diamond no longer! She is a traitor, and if you follow her-"
She activates the warp, encapsulating all the Gems she brought with her as they huddle around her. Through the rush of the warp stream they can still hear the furious cursing. "TRAITOR! Traitors, All of you!" She knows they are afraid. Of her, for her. She is afraid. For them, of herself.
The warp deposits them in a field teeming with life. Bright red fruit hangs heavy with juice on vibrant green vines. Insects hum, animals beat like drums. She can feel the life all around her, coursing through her, Gem and Earthen alike, so similar. Like music from different instruments played together to form a beautiful melody.
She Raised Her Arms, and The Earth Rose.
