Chapter 1: After the End

"Mmm…" Yukina Freesis has started to rouse in her sleep. She has been through a lot during these past five years. Ever since she had left Marlon to go off and find the truth about the Daughter of Evil, her life is constantly threatened every now and then: armies of the dead, demonic beasts, bloodthirsty pirates, giant octopuses, and cunning sorceresses. All of that has finally passed and Yukina can finally rest in peace.

But peace is still a distant dream. Yukina cannot rest yet. She needs to write her story, the true story of the Daughter of Evil. Yukina started to wake up. She felt very weak, though it is no surprise due to last night. Yukina looked around slowly. She appears to be in the monastery, but how? Did someone carry her back here? Suddenly, Yukina heard a knocking on the door.

"Yukina? Are you awake?"

"Clarith? Yeah, I'm awake."

Clarith opened the door and walked over to Yukina's bedside, "Good morning. Are you feeling alright?"

"Yeah, I'm okay…wait, where is mom?" Yukina had started to panic, "Clarith! Is mom oka…ow!"

"Yukina! Calm down! You're still aching!" Clarith quickly caught Yukina before she could do anything rash, "Yes, you mother is okay. She's resting right now, though I think she needs more time to recover."

"Oh…thank goodness…!" Yukina collapsed on the bed.

Clarith sat by Yukina and gently stroked her to help her relax.

"Clarith, did anything special happen yesterday?"

"Well, yesterday you went out to find your mother and Germaine went out also. It was getting dark and Rin has started to worry so she went out during the night to find you. The next thing I know is that Rin and Germaine arrived back with you and your mother passed out."

"I see…"

"Why don't you sleep some more? I'll have Rin bring breakfast up to your room."

"Thank you, Clarith."

Clarith left the room while Yukina continued to lie down and think. Last night was not like any other night. That night happened after Kyle Marlon confronted his mother, the queen dowager Prim Marlon, and his half-sister, Ney Futapie. From what Yukina heard from Kyle, Prim was stabbed by Ney, who had succumbed to the full power of the Glass of Conchita, one of the Vessels of Sin. Kyle and Germaine Avadonia managed to capture her, only to find her dead the next day. Yukina's mother, Mikina, also went missing, thus Yukina decided to travel to Lucifenia alone to find Mikina, meeting Germaine along the way. After visiting Clarith and another nun named Rin, Yukina set off to find Mikina, only to find her possessed by Prim's mage, Abyss I.R., who is supposedly defeated by Gumillia and Elluka Clockworker but somehow resurfaced. Abyss I.R. has been defeated again by Germaine and Rin, but there is something else during the conflict that Yukina will never forget: Yukina had made a promise with Allen. Allen Avadonia: The one who called out to her when Abyss I.R. surrounded her in a fiery prison. Allen told her that she must live so that she can tell the whole world the truth of what really happened five years ago. Now that she thinks about it, Kyle Marlon did say the exact same thing.

Yukina continued to lie in bed for a while. In order to write her story and fulfill her promise, there are a few people left in which she must talk to.

As Clarith left the room, she found Germaine at the door.

"Is Yukina alright?" Germaine asked.

"Yukina is going to be okay. Mikina hasn't waken up yet."

"I see…" Germaine started walking away.

"W, where are you going?"

"Where else? I am going to settle something I haven't done five years ago."

Clarith continued to watch Germaine. Then she started to fear the worst.

"Rin…"
