It was a normal Saturday for Sam and his mother. The two were at the mall when they'd found themselves in Oshkosh B'gosh, taking the opportunity to find the perfect gift for Rachel's baby shower.

From the moment he'd set foot in the store, Sam's attention was drawn to the raven haired man behind the cash register. Sam's eyes would shuffle from the racks filled with beautiful dresses to the employee. Several times, the raven haired man glanced at Sam, catching his eyes for a second before his cheeks tinged pink and he looked away.

Mary had only seen the last brief moment of eye contact between the two, but it was enough for her to know that her son was love-struck. "So Sammy, are you seeing anyone new," she inquired.

While lazily looking through hangers, Sam mumbled, "No."

"Is there anybody that you're interested in maybe?"

Immediately he blushed and threw a glance in the direction of the sales associate. He turned back to the rack he was peering at, words tumbling out of his mouth. "I um… I don't really… there could, I'm… yes?"

"I saw the way you were looking at him," she stated, at which Sam's eyes nearly bulged out of his sockets. She ignored him, continuing on saying, "He's rather handsome, so I completely understand your interest."

A diffident smile crossed his face. "He's extremely handsome. He even smiled at me," Sam breathed, his emerald green eyes shining almost as bright as the smile he now had plastered to his face.

She knew her son well enough to know that the only way to convince him to ask the man out was by encouraging him to go for it. "If a smile has you this excited, you should go ask him out."

Sam's smile faltered and his gaze returned to the rack of clothes he'd previously been leafing through.

Mary sensed that she would have to add guilt on top of encouragement. "Just hear me out okay sweetie?" He nodded, so she continued with her spiel. "I know that is outside of your comfort zone, but you can do it. Just imagine, one day the two of you could get married, start a family. I'm getting older, and you know how much I want grandchildren. This is your chance to make that happen."

Sam sighed, knowing that he would give in. "Okay, I'll ask him out." He grabbed a pink corduroy dress and a blue sundress and made his way to the cash register. He became more nervous the closer he got, so he diverted his eyes to the ground.

Sam finally looked up when he was standing in front of the register. He was greeted by a heart melting smile from the man -Blaine, that's what his name tag read. Sam placed the dresses on the counter, shy smile gracing his lip. "Hi," he croaked out. He cleared his throat and let out a nervous laugh and Blaine rang up his purchases.

Here goes nothing, Sam thought. "Um, hi. I'm uh, I'm Sam… I was um, wondering if maybe, you'd like to uh," he stopped, exhaling and regathering his nerves, "If maybe you would like to go to dinner, with me?"

Blaine's smile grew wider and he began nodding. "Yes. I would love to go to dinner with you," he returned enthusiastically when he found his voice. "I'm Blaine. Let me give you my number." He reached for a pen and a piece of paper that had been lying beside the cash register, happily writing his number down.

Sam took the paper from Blaine as he finished up checking him out. Sam retrieved his wallet from the pocket of his jeans, trading money for the bag. Before walking away, Sam bashfully stated, "I'll call you later so we can make plans for dinner."

Blaine looked at him, hazel eyes shining, replying, "I'm looking forward to it."
