"Ugh! Why am I so nervous?" a distressed Lily said wringing her hands. She looked in the mirror again and than glanced over at Jess who was fixing her blush in her mirror. She had on her black dress robes that showed off her figure a little.
"Chill out, Lily. You'll know he'll go for you" Jess said checking her appearance once more. Getting up, she spun around in her midnight blue dress robes and said, "Well? How do I look?"
"Great. Sirius will sure have a nice time kissing you at midnight," Lily said also getting up from her bed.
"And James will with you. I don't know what you're worried about. It's so obvious he likes you." Jess said as they walked out of their dorm and down to the common room. They were going to the New Year's Eve party being held in the great hall for 7th years. "Now lets go party!" Lily grinned and the two girls, being the only 7th years not already down there, headed down alone.
The Great Hall looked fabulous. Streamers were hung tastefully throughout the enormous adobe and stars were placed on the walls that read "Happy New Year". The house tables were no where in site but the head table was set out with all sorts of drinks and snacks. Throngs of students were scattered throughout the Great Hall. Dress robes of many colors brightened up the area more than the black robes that usually occupied the room. The girls headed over to their gossipy friends and started find out all the latest gossip; who was going to be kissing who at midnight.
"Five minutes to Midnight" McGonagall said into the magical microphone when the time approached. Jess practically dragged Lily over to wear Sirius, James, Remus, and Peter were standing. Each was wearing a nice black dress robes except for Sirius; he was wearing orange. The hall started counting down 10 seconds before the New Year. "10... 9... 8... 7... 6... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... HAPPY NEW YEAR!"
Lily screamed Happy New Year with the rest and found herself being pulled into a passionate kiss. She opened her eyes to see James' messy but oh-so nice hair covering his closed eyes. Lily returned the kiss back and when they pulled away they heard a low whistle from behind them. They turned their heads to see Jess and Sirius, still holding each other, looking at them. Both turned an amazingly bright shade of red and Lily giggled nervously.
"Back Here" came on and Lily and James started to dance. She lifted her head off his shoulder to see Jess and Sirius dancing, Remus and Minnie, and even Peter with Allie. Everybody was finally happy.
The song finally came to an end and Lily and James looked up. "I love you Lily Evans"
"And I love you too, James Potter"
