I'm finally back! Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter, JK Rowling does, and I'm obviously not her. And on with the story!
Lily stormed from the Great Hall, growling and bristling with anger. James Potter had humiliated her yet again by asking her out in front of the whole school…
Flashback
They were just eating a normal meal in the Great Hall…Suddenly, a gigantic pink ribbon flew from under the Gryffindor table towards the staff table, but when it was right in front of it, it stopped and rose into the air. An invisible pen seemed ti be writing on it with sparkly gold ink. It read, 'Lily-flower, will you go out with me? ;) '
There was a small silence, then everybody burst into laughter and turned to Lily, who was cowering. They didn't need to ask who the message was from. Many people liked Lily, but only one of them would have dared to do that. James Potter.
Lily got up and stormed from the Great Hall…
She ran and ran and entered an old classroom. Brushing away the cobwebs, she curled up on the floor. Why did he have to pick on her? It was obvious those 'feelings' he had for her weren't even real. Maybe she was just a playtoy to him, something he used for fun and threw away when he got sick of it and moved on to something better.
"Hello?" Someone spoke from the other side of the door. "Lily?"
Lily wiped her tears and looked up. "Who is it?" she said softly. She didn't recognize the voice though it did sound a little familiar. It was Charlie Stewart, a Hufflepuff who was in the same year as her. She didn't know him very well, but they had been partners in a Charms project, and he had helped her out before. He caught sight of Lily's tearstained face and frowned.
"Aww, come on…It's ok." He hugged her and Lily placed her chin over his shoulder.
He kept comforting, and Lily felt her sadness slide away like Stinksap.
"This probably isn't the best time, but…I really like you Lily. Will you come to Hogsmeade with me?"
Lily just smiled and nodded; he could feel it as her face bobbled up and down into his left shoulder. Lily closed her eyes, grinning. He was so caring and sweet. But she didn't see the sly smile that crossed his face after she had said yes…
… … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …
The students were visiting Hogsmeade that afternoon, and Lily was ecstatic, She couldn't wait-she was going on a date with the 3rd cutest guy in the school. Potter was first, followed by Sirius even though Lily would never admit it.
Lily put on a simple skirt and a fitting tank, and she was ready to go outside when she was roughly pulled back by her other friend, Mary MacDonald.
"Oh no Lily! You are NOT going on your date looking like that!" Mary gasped.
"Why? What's wrong with it?" Lily looked down, but everything seemed perfectly fine.
"The clothes are okay I guess, but not the face and hair. Eurgh! You've got to look stunning! Not that you aren't stunning already, Lils, but you need to look completely perfect! I mean you're going on a date with #3! Personally I think you could've done better, I mean, how many times has Potter asked you out now? Something along the lines of 87, I think. If it was me, I wouldve said yes ages ago, but I'm not you, so too bad I guess. Shame, I don't know what you were thinking."
While she was rambling, she began doing Lily's makeup and hair, and by the time she was done, Lily didn't even look like Lily anymore…
… … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …
Lily felt like she was in a dream. Walking alongside Charlie towards the large gates, she felt as if she could just sigh contentedly and float away upwards in happiness.
"So, Charlie…Can I ask you something?" Lily smiled.
"Sure," He ran his hand through his chocolate colored hair in a queer impression of James Potter.
"Why do you like me?"
This question seemed to catch him off guard. His eyes widened, and he hesitated. Lily could see that he was thinking very hard just to answer that one question and she frowned.
"Well, you're very pretty." He finished awkwardly. Lily looked at him, urging him to go on.
"Er...good looking. Cute."
Lily frowned. "Um…Is there anything else? Other than looks, I mean."
"Ah-well-" He didn't say anything. Instead, he leaned forward slowly…his face was getting closer and closer…
"AHEM." James Potter cleared his throat and stepped in front of them, blocking their way.
"What do you want, Potter?" Lily snapped angrily. She was so close, but part of her was glad that he had interrupted their moment. She was not going to let James ruin her date, and if he did, he would be very sorry indeed.
"Whoa," he held up his hands in a gesture of surrender. "I just want to talk."
"It's okay, Potter." Lily's voice softened. "I accept your apology." Something on his face told Lily that 'I'm sorry' was not what he was going to say, but she didn't what she could do now.
"Yeah, er..okay then." He turned to go.
"Yeah," Charlie said, and Lily detected a hint of anger, hatred, and jealousy in his voice. "Buh-bye."
James froze for a second, then slowly, he turned back around to face them. "That's not it. No. That's. Not. It. Listen Stewart, you better treat this lady like a queen. Because you...you my friend, you've found yourself the perfect woman. If I was ever so lucky to find the perfect woman, I would give her flowers every day. And not just any flowers okay? Her favorites are roses. Not lilies like everyone else thinks. And not red roses. White. And her favorite desserts are treacle tarts. She likes Muggle breakfasts. Scrambled eggs with bacon, sausage, and a side of fruit. Exactly the way she likes it. I'd be her shoulder to cry on and I'd spend every day trying to think of how to make her laugh. She has the most…most amazing laugh…I-I mean-That's what I would do, if I were you. But I'm not, so you do it."
Lily was extremely touched, but it seemed like Charlie was not. "Yeah, okay. Whatever. I will." He shrugged, pursing his lips and scowling. "Can you go now? We were kind of in the middle of something here…"
Stewart moved back towards Lily as James walked away, but Lily removed herself from Charlie's grasp.
"Let's go." Before James' speech she would have gladly stayed in Charlie's arms, but her heart seemed to have changed its mind, and now all she wanted was for this day to end so she wouldn't have to spend any more time with Charlie Stewart, who she now saw in a new light. He was just a shallow jerk. Lily had thought James Potter was a shallow jerk, but now it seemed like he was not. She felt like she had mixed up the personalities of Charlie Stewart and James Potter, and now she was more confused than she had ever been in her life.
But maybe she had misjudged James. Maybe she was so blinded by what she called hate that she never saw and never took the time to find the real James. The caring, sweet, and protective one. And maybe, just maybe, her heart had finally found the right path.

Sorry! I've been gone for so long...You must hate me :O You probably know this already, but I put 'Blinded By WHAT SHE CALLED HATE' because it's not really hate. Yeah. I really couldn't think of a better title, so I hope this is good enough. Anyways I hope you liked it. That little speech was actually inspired by Madagascar 2 (Melman said it) and I tweaked it a little because I don't think Lily eats 6 loaves of toast for breakfast every day. :P Madagascar 2...So unromantic. LOL. Review!
