Anything Can Happen
Okay, for a while now (actually, ever since Cooler) I've been lurking in the New Girl archive, reading about, but I have never actually written a New Girl fic myself.
That all changed after the end of Virgins, which this story contains spoilers for. (Just in case you haven't caught it yet.)
And so, not one day later, this was created.
In case you couldn't tell, it was inspired by the Ellie Goulding song by the same name that was (very fittingly) used at the end of the episode. It was really fun to write. And I feel that Jess's perspective is largely unexplored, as a majority of fics on here delve more into Nick's thoughts than those of Jess. This one is told from her point of view, although it is still third person.
So, I may write more for this fandom, I may not. It depends on the reviews and the coming episodes.
(My primary fandom is Harry Potter, in case anyone is wondering.)

Jess turned her head slowly sideways. Nick had long since fallen asleep, unusual since she'd expected HIM to stay up staring at HER lovingly, the same way she stared at him now. It was generally the guy's role to do that.
But nevertheless, it was her that was awake still, long after the two of them had just completed some fantastic lovemaking. And she could barely comprehend how it happened.
Jess threw her arms over the covers and stared at the ceiling as she relived the events of today in her head.
It all started with just a simple question, thrown out there into the open by Winston and Schmidt,
"How did you lose your virginity?"
And soon, that unraveled into something much larger, as she prepared to leave for drinks with Teddy, the one who had "taken her flower".
She had asked him his opinion on whether or not she should go for the sole purpose of trying to convince out a small hint of any feelings, any at all, that he had for her still. Honestly, she had deeply hoped he would stop her then, maybe grab her arm like he had when they first kissed and pull her close to him. But it was clear that that wasn't going to happen after a few silent, awkward seconds. Tears had been pricking her disappointed blue eyes as she left.
Perhaps he'd seen them, out of the corner of his eye, and that was why he came? Regardless, he had ran after her almost immediately, but she hadn't known that. All she knew, as she stood in the gleaming silver elevator, frustratedly pushing the first-floor button, was that tonight was not going to be one of her best.
But the rugged hand that stopped the doors from closing proved what she knew to be entirely wrong.
"Nick, what are you..." Jess had trailed off as he stepped into the elevator and began to advance slowly towards her. Quite suddenly, he scooped her up bridal-style, and she let out an astonished squeal. But, as he carried her back to the loft, she managed to relax into his arms and let him carry her away.
And then they were in his bedroom.
And then they were kissing.
Soft
And slow
And sweet
And full of love.
Love.
And now, here they were.
Jess let out a whoosh of a breath and rolled on her side to face him again.
Nick mumbled something that sounded an awful lot like "Jess" and sleepily threw his arm around her. She sent one last glance at the alarm clock blinking out 1:00 and Nick's sleeping features, and closed her eyes. A small smile crept across her face.
Ellie Goulding may have been on to something.
"And now I've seen it through, and now I know the truth, that anything can happen, anything can happen,
Anything can happen."
~Ellie Goulding
