Okay... So I wrote this because of the word 'Stay' and I was debating whether this should be a Wally/Robin or a Connor/Robin.

In the end, it became Connor/Robin ^^°

Anyways, I feel like I could've done a lot better at this one. Especially the end. And again... NO dialogue... I'm... really bad at that :)"

So, possibility of this being edited somewhen soon is pretty high, and if you have suggestions at what I could have done better or want to point out what really annoys you, please feel free to do so.

Disclaimer: I (sadly) own nothing.

Robin never felt like he was the closest to Superboy. Sure, he and the clone had some pretty long talks sometimes but that was about it.

Also, he was well aware of the fact that Miss Martian and Superboy fit perfectly. He never expected to have a chance.

But it got a lot harder to remember those thoughts over the time he spent in the clones company. All he could think of was how Connor would help him if he couldn't reach for something, even though he could just jump and get it for himself. How the boys eyes would sparkle with interest when Robin explained something to him. How Superboy would protect him on the battelfield if he got too careless and underestimated the enemy.

Still, he never thought of it being more than friendship.

Superboy had Miss M.

But Robin was painfully aware of his own feelings. And it hurt.

Seeing him from afar and imagining what he wanted to be but knowing that it never could.

Superboy was just too high for him to reach, no matter how high he jumped.

It was after a mission that went horribly wrong, more so than the worst mission they had had so far, that Robin became scared.

And Robin was never scared.

But seeing Superboy beaten down and lying still in a bed, he was just feeling so helpless, useless... and just so scared.

Had he just seen that guy with the Kryptonite. He could have... done something.

But now, all he could do was stand there, in a corner and watch all of his friend visit.

He saw Kaldur looking remorsefully down at Connor, Wally petting his arm and biting back tears – because everyone knows speedsters are emotional – Artemis muttering an apology and Megan sobbing while holding his hand.

And all he could do was stand there and watch them all come and go and try to feel just nothing.

Finally, after even Miss M left, he dared to take slow steps towards the clone.

As he stood by Connors bed, the tears he had tried so hard to hold in slipped out beneath his mask but no sound came from his mouth.

Silently, he cried his apology because he was supposed to anticipate everything. He was supposed to know everything.

And with trembling lips, he mouthed 'I'm sorry' and turned to leave.

But as he arrived at the door, a weak voice – much weaker than he was used to – whispered one word that got him to whip around, sprint back to Connors bed and stare at him, mouth agape.

"Stay..."

And a big hand grasped a smaller one and sqeezed as much as it could at the moment.

Blue eyes searched for hidden ones and that weak voice sounded again.

"Please stay..."

And Superboy had come down, so that Robin didn't have to jump anymore.
