So, I'm sort of reaaally behind on the Naruto Shippuden. To be honest, I just watched episode 59 a few hours ago. So, yeah.
While watching like.. 55 or whatever number, I was inspired to write a little something for Sakura and Sasuke, so here we go. :3
Just a disclaimer, I do not own Naruto or any of the characters, I hardly own the plot, but hey. We deal.

His voice rang through her ears, a voice she would recognize anywhere. Even if she were drowning in an icy lake, ears glooded with ice and water. Anywhere. It was deeper, though. Still smooth, just as silky, just as mysterious. A voice full of secrets, a voice that at that moment, stopped her heart, and realizing it had done so, restarted it with a Chidori, an electrical surge, quick, powerful. Her throat thickened, she couldn't speak.
It was so beautiful, and yet, it hurt her. Her eyes, shining with anger just moments before, seemed to lose all life in them, if only for a millisecond. They focused in again just to widen in shock. It couldn't be, but it was. She was there looking for him to begin with.
Her grip on Sai's collar loosened, her hand fell to her side.
Sasuke.
Sakura turned slowly; if she moved too quickly, the moment could break. It could all be a dream, a terrible, but beautiful dream.
No, he was there.
Looking at her...
He'd grown. If he was beautiful before, it was nothing to how he looked now.
Words failed her.
Words failed him.
He had almost scoffed at the absurdity of the pale boy.. Sai, was it, who had dared mention Naruto to him. How could this puny brat know Naruto? He'd turned to leave, the brat was not worth his time.. but when Sakura's name fell past Sai's lips with such ease.. Sasuke had frozen.
Nobody noticed. His shriveled, empty, little heart had fluttered. Impossible.
He hadn't seen the bitch in over two and a half years.
She was nothing.
She was everything.
And now she was less than 20 feet away from him.
She was there, so close, but she'd never been further.
He knew he'd have to leave her. Again.
So he shook himself free. He would end them, and with that, he would rid himself of them, of any feelings he still felt, though ghostly and half-gone, feelings were for lesser beings. Sasuke had a purpose. Neither Naruto, nor Sakura, could take that away from him. His eyes narrowed, footsteps echoed.
He was free, he was free, he was free.
