More 2009 drabble fun
Prepared a bath, Arthur soaked in the tub where the sore muscles, blood splatters, and sweaty brows would disappear. Relaxing in a bath had never felt so good. Merlin left the room while Arthur soaked.
Gwen had to pick up some laundry from Arthur's bedchamber. She kind of hoped Arthur was nowhere near his chambers. It was never good idea to be around him. She always said or did something stupid when she was around him.
Collecting up the bed linens and dirty clothes, Gwen was about to go into the room with the bath when she heard something move in that direction. She could have sworn Arthur was still out in the courtyard. There shouldn't be anyone in this room unless they have chamber business to attend to in the first place.
So she lifted up a candelabra for protection, she headed toward the bath. The strength she possessed would be enough to glock the perpetrator in the head and go get help. Whoever it was would not know what hit him.
Arthur climbed out of the tub, stretched, and walked to the window. He toweled himself off, enjoying the breeze blowing on his exposed skin. Looking through the clothes Merlin laid out, he heard something moving somewhere. He turned around scouring each little thing around the tub and the room at large; then he moved slowly toward the main part of the chamber to search for the culprit. He jumped when he saw Gwen round the corner with a weapon in her hands.
"Oh sweet Jesus, you nearly killed me!" Arthur exclaimed, eyes opened in horror as Gwen dropped the candelabra. They have done nothing but stared at each other since Arthur saved himself from being hit in the head.
"I kill you? I thought you were a thief or a murderer," Gwen stammered, incoherently. She looked down to avoid eye contact. No one prepared her for what she was about to see when she did.
Staring back at her, a one eyed snake saluted her. She stared at it, transfixed, swallowing some saliva that has formed in her mouth and licked her lips. Arthur followed her eyes down to where she looked. No wonder she couldn't look away.
He was about to say something when she ran away, forgetting the laundry she was sent in to get.
