That feeling.
The one in your chest.
Maybe it's your heart dropping into your stomach or, your own version of a "mini-heart-attack."
Maybe even…guilt.
But, whatever it was, it was a feeling that Kendall Knight was far too familiar with.
-FLASHBACK-
"I'm sorry Mr. Knight, sh-she's gone." the nurse said, tearing up a bit.
"Wh-what?" Kendall asked.
"She didn't make it. We did all we could. I'm so sorry."
Kendall dropped to the floor, his body wracking with sobs.
-END OF FLASHBACK-
"NO! NO!" a terrified Kendall shouted.
"Honey! Honey! Wake up!" someone said, shaking him on the shoulder.
He woke up with his heart pounding.
Mrs. Knight was sitting on the scared boy's bed.
"You were having another nightmare." Mrs. Knight said.
"Mom, it was another Jo dream." Kendall said before wrapping his arms around his mother.
"It's okay, honey. She's fine." Mrs. Knight said, trying to comfort her scared son.
"But, Mom it seemed so… real." He said after pulling away from his mother.
"It wasn't." She replied.
"Can I please call her and make sure?"
"Sure. I'll give you some privacy."
Mrs. Knight kissed her son's head and left the room.
Kendall grabbed the phone off his nightstand.
When he called, a sleepy Jo answered.
"Kendall, is everything okay?" Jo asked.
"Yeah, I had another…dream. I wanted to make sure you were okay." Kendall replied.
"I'm fine. Do you want me to come over?"
"Yeah."
"Okay, I'll see you in a few."
"Bye."
"Bye."
Kendall sat on his bed waiting for his sweetheart.
A little while later, he heard a knock on his window.
He opened it and Jo came in.
"Oh, I'm so glad you're okay." Kendall said, swooping her up in a hug.
"Ha-ha. I told you I was." Jo replied.
"I know. But, I needed proof." Kendall smiled at her.
"Well, now you have it." she replied.
"Why do you think you have these nightmares, anyway?" Jo asked.
"I guess it's just… because I'm so afraid of losing you." Kendall replied.
"I don't wanna lose you either but, I'm fine. I want you to be able to get some rest." Jo said.
"I know. And, that's one of the reasons I love you. Because, of how much you care."
"I love you too. Now, go to sleep. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Okay. Goodnight." Kendall said.
He gave her a kiss.
Jo left and, Kendall crawled into bed.
He knew she was alright.
He could finally sleep in peace.
