Prologue

FAULT.

The nearest visage fell in two pieces.
My fault. The next to come sighted his own innards before falling.
There was yelling. Squeals in a tongue that I had never heard before. But my ears did not listen. Could not listen.
Although the charred stumps around me had cooled, their memory still burned deep into my mind. I tried to stop it, both in my rage and skill, but it was all too much. And now it was out of my hands.

They had sent reinforcements. Two spear-toting pigs and a cyclops, brandishing straps of small bombs.

I blasted forth with a cry and the pig was in two before the others were realizing what was happening. By then, I had returned to the brush, its ash becoming my shadow again. Next.
I cut him from snout to loins, and he was down. Into the shadow. The cyclops was in a panic, and in this chaos he pulled two bombs from the strap across his belly. Now, while he's still gone.
From the twilight I came, flying as only a demon could. The giant saw me coming, but made no move as I swatted each bomb from his paws. They exploded on either side of us as I flipped over him and sprang to the last tree. I was propelled off of it with twice the force. You do not need your sword.
Sword sheathed, in the air, I extended my leg. An abomination ripped out of my boot and thrust three talons into the face, the central pike plunging deep into the eye. The white juices barely phased me. The back talon, now just noticing, hooked under the roof of the open mouth. The claw clenched.and crushed.
You are not finished. With my propulsion from the tree, and the clenched head, I tucked and rolled in the air, not even noticing that I took my victim with me.until I landed. The giant was on his back, my talon still grasping his skull. I noticed my sword had returned.
"All your fault." It sunk into his flesh.
