So ... I've become addicted to Harry Potter once more??
Its kinda interfering with my life a little bit. Is there a 7 step program or something??
"Albus." Minerva McGonogall adressed the painting on the wall, "I think you'll be interested to know that Harry Potter's son is starting school this year."
A nearby portrait groaned. "Is that imbecile still procreating? Still adding to the army of brats, now, is he?"
"Now now, Severus," Albus said, sighing from his picture frame (although his eyes were twinkling). "It would serve you to remember that it was Harry who petitioned for your portrait to be hung in this office."
"Potter doomed me to an eternity in this office, you mean. I'm sick of the décor already."
Albus's beamed, despite himself. Portraiture had not reduced any of Severus's biting sarcasm.
"Quite interesting, you say, Minerva?"
"His name," Minerva said, "Is Albus Severus Potter."
A spluttering sound came from the direction of Severus Snape's portrait. "He what?"
Albus was similarly shocked, although a great deal more emotionally affected. He wiped away a little tear. This was very touching, very touching indeed.
Severus, meanwhile, was still spluttering. "What? That little…"
It appeared that he didn't know the Potter brat's character as well as he had thought; usually he was able to anticipate any dunderhead move the boy would make, but this took the cake. Of all stupid decisions…
"The boy will be teased at school with a name like that," Severus stated disdainfully.
Albus recovered from his emotion. "I'm pleased to see that you're looking out for the boy's welfare already, Severus."
Severus raised an eyebrow. "Well, it's not exactly a catchy name now, is it?" he heaved a great sigh. "And my name associated with the Potters… It's laughable. If the Malfoy's ever heard of this…"
Albus's eyes twinkled delightedly. "Oh, but this is touching, Severus. You're flattered."
Snape sneered. "Flattered? Hardly. This is more proof that Potter is spawning offspring faster than he can think of appropriate names."
Dumbledore nodded understandingly. A little too understandingly…
"Don't patronize me!" Severus exclaimed. "The child probably has red hair as well… Oh the shame…"
As Snape angsted away in the corner, a smile played around Dumbledore's mouth. It was times like these when he knew that saving Severus from the dark side was probably the best thing Lily Potter ever did.
