It's the sixth year. Sirius is dead, and Harry is still in the clutches of depression. It probably doesn't help that the old scar is going off now and again. This combined pressure makes him grouchy and irritable. It's probably these factors that push Hermione and Ron closer together. And closer. And closer. You get the Idea.
