"Why did you let him go? He was good looking!" The dark brown haired girl
questioned, watching the back of the young man who had just left them. "He
was totally into you."
The other woman cringed, "not my type."
"Not your type," the young woman studied he friends face, "you know Hitomi, for as long as we've been friends, I haven't seen you go out with very many guys," her eyes narrowed, "how would you know if he was your type or not?"
"I can just tell," the light brown haired girl shrugged, stopping to look in the window of one of her favorite stores.
"But."
"Come on Yukari, just drop it," she gave a light smile, "I'm happy being single. Anyway, I'm to busy to have a boyfriend, or even to date."
"Yay, yay, study then work or work then study." Yukari replied sarcastically, "Come on Hitomi, if I can manage to do all that and have a relationship, so can you."
"It also helps that your Amono is thousands of miles away."
"Wow look at that necklace," suddenly changing the subject her friend pointed to a piece of jewelry in the window, "It's beautiful. I wonder how much it is?"
Leave it to Yukari to be the one to change the subject when she was the one to bring it up in the first place, Hitomi thought to herself and rolling he eyes. I wish I could tell her about you Van. Then she would stop pushing so hard. She would probably never believe me or pass it off as a dream, but at least I could tell someone about you. I miss you so much. She sighed lightly. Ever since she left Gaea she still felt connected with the Fanalian King. It had been four years since they had last seen each other but she could still hear his thoughts and even feel some of his pain. Tears started to well up in her eyes at the thought. I hope I'll see you again someday Van, even if it's just for a moment. She squeezed her eyes tight for a moment just as a jolt of pain ran through her head causing her to let out a loud yelp.
"Hitomi, are you all right," her friend placed a steady hand on her shoulder.
"I'm okay," she stared up at Yukari's startled face, "I think I'm starting to get a headache. Would you mind if we finish Christmas shopping next week, I know we.
"No, of course I don't mind. Do you want me to drive you home"
"That's all right, my cars just around the corner."
"Are you sure you're ok?"
"I'm fine. I'll see you next week," she waved as she started to walk away.
"Call me when you get home," the other woman called after her.
"OK," she yelled back, quickening here pace as she went. "I hope you're all right Van," she whispered to herself. She could feel a slight sickening feeling in the pit of her stomach.
Something was definitely not right.
