A.N. First day of writing again, second story, im on a roll! Ive had so many ideas building up for so long and now they all want to come out at once! Arrgghhh!

So, this is about a couple who have long since held my heart. I remember the first time I saw JD and Elliot, how Zach and Sarah had such wonderful chemistry and it just made me fall in love with the characters, both together and separately. I hope I can do them some justice as I attempt to portray their personalities and relationship in this story.

As his great-great-granddaughter tugged at his still-perfect curls, Percival Cox attempted a smile. This girl brought so much happiness to his heart, but his hollow soul still could not bear to be happy. Even now, as his family threw him a surprise ninety-eighth birthday party – which he was going to kill them for, by the way – he was only half-heartedly joining in on the chaos. Having said that, he was quite impressed with Jack and Jennifer Dylan for the job they had done in rounding up those he once worked with.

That something broke his heart though. As his wife, Jordan, clutched his hand, he thanked the lord (hoping to him in that moment that Laverne could not see this) for giving him such an understanding best friend who would remain by his side for life, knowing that he loved someone else. Jordan had spent their entire lives running around after Perry –cleaning up his mess, taking his side even when he was clearly wrong, and bearing two beautiful children for him. All this time, she knew who the real love of his life was, and could see why. But she loved Perry, and if being second best forever meant she got to have just a piece of him, the piece that cried himself to sleep most nights with the pain, that was enough for her. Besides, she would never want him anyway.

Perry glanced across the room at the woman to whom his heart truly belonged. She smiled affectionately as her husband helped her back to her seat from the buffet. Perry himself smiled at that, at least happy in the knowledge that Carla had always been treated well. Upon hearing loud shrieking noises, he turned to see Barbie and Cindy playing with the kids. By playing with the kids, he meant his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were throwing quite hard balls at the two retired doctors who by now must be in their eighties. In their eighties and still as energetic and full of life as he had ever seen then. And still… so in love. As he stroked his beard with intrigue, he wondered how, after all these years, they were still together.

"They're not kids anymore" Jordan whispered in his ear, sensing his train of thought. And quite right she was. They definitely weren't kids anymore.

A.N. Short again, I know, but I just wanted you to get a small sense of everyone's character for the first chapter. The real action doesn't start just yet, but it will soon, I promise! Let me know what you think in a review! xoxo
