Prologue

"You know nothing

You feel nothing

You are nothing"

This is the mindset that they taught us. They power washed this into our fragile minds. This was the only thing we knew. This was the only thing I knew.

Chapter 1: I Almost Punch My Twin

"SOPHIE! I WILL NOT TELL YOU AGAIN. GET UP. YOU WILL BE LATE," Mom had yelled. I forgot today was the my first day of private classes with my twin brother, Trevor.

"FINE. I'M UP," I screamed reluctantly. Sorry about that. My mom is pretty harsh when it comes to things like this. I got changed and ran downstairs to the kitchen. Trevor is sitting at the table, his blonde hair slicked back like Draco Malfoy's on the first day of Hogwarts, and has this stupid, smug look of told you so on his face. Just because he's the oldest by a single minute, doesn't mean he is the "older, more responsible" twin. I wanted to punch him in the face so hard that his head would go everywhere. But, sadly, I didn't. I was in enough trouble as it is.

"What are you looking at?" I threatened.

"Just enjoying the thought of you having to clean the basement and the attic after school today."

I forgot about that too. We made a bet that if I made us late, then I would clean the entire house, including the basement and attic. Great.

"Actually, I won't have to. We still have an hour to get to the building. AND, with Mom driving us, we will be there in about 10 minutes. So, HA. I win!"

"You would have won, but you don't know that Mom isn't driving us this year. So, HA. I win," he said with that crap-eating grin on his face. I hated that. He always finds some fact that I am always unaware of and uses that to win every argument. I hate that he does that with a burning passion.

"WOULD YOU TWO JUST LEAVE? I'll see you at 7!" Mom yelled as she pushed us out the door and slammed it behind us.
