Welcome to the refined edition to my previously titled Long Saga series, now titled the Origin Series. :) The reason for the new series title is because this series is the prequel to my Epic Struggles series. It's also my childhood series, which I'm now presenting to everyone in its renewed state.

So, enjoy. :)

It started as a dream… an empty space… the dog awoke to a brand-new world, a world the Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea created with his own hands. How had he done it? The dog wondered that, as she stood up, embracing the pure fresh air and the simple delights of the world.

She moved out of her den in excitement, ready to start the day.

The spotted dog moved across the land, not knowing which way she should turn or what new adventures awaited her. It was just as well that she was here when all the other animals were present. To her surprise, there were a few beings here. If not a few, then a lot, for she was surprised to see a man wearing a top hat and donned in the strangest garb. He was joyful, a trait she couldn't ignore.

Who was this fellow and why was he so endearing?

"You!" Aslan greeted the dog. "Step forward." The dog did as she was told, her legs shaking in terror. She looked on in wonder as Aslan blew on her. When he finished, she coughed, stunned to find her voice. "You shall be called Janus, for you have come at the beginning of time – at least, in this universe's timeline."

"Thank you, Aslan," Janus said, bowing before him.

"Well, aren't we lucky." A snooty pointy-eared dog said, with prideful eyes. He shook his head, enjoying the moment. "A Dalmatian! Who would have guessed?"

"Dalmatians can be resilient in any world, Maximus," Janus said, grunting in disbelief.

"I say, this is quite the turnout!" The man in the top hat clapped vigorously. Janus laughed. Well, at least there was some good in this world!

"Yes Tom Bombadil, we are all pleased you are here," Aslan said, smiling joyously.

"Not all of us!" Maximus fumed.

"Already, this world is tainted by evil," Aslan called out.

"Humph." Maximus was peeved. "If you don't like the way I speak, after all you've done, then enough is enough! I'm out of here!" He ran off, disappearing from sight. Janus was shocked. How could Aslan let him go so easily?

"Will he be back?" Janus asked, concerned.

"I don't know." Aslan shook his head. He turned to the crowd, saying, "If anyone else has anything they would like to say, then speak now! If not, then we can begin to enjoy this world and all its splendor! Let us rest and enjoy merry talk from now until sunset."

Janus sighed. Maybe it was possible that evil had arrived in this world too soon. She just hoped that whatever happened next wouldn't spoil the pleasures of this world, a world she was glad the Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea created.
