"P-Please." The dying apprentice begged, chest stained a deep, dark crimson as blood pooled rapidly around his small body.
"I…c-can't…."
"P-please…. w-we...pr-promised."
*Two years ago*
Two young toms lay side by side, panting slightly, tail intertwined.
"Brother?" The small, delicate-looking white tom asked.
"Ya?"
"Wi…. will you promise me something?" The devoted tom aske shyly, not knowing how to voice what he wanted.
"Sure."
"If I…. was dying, say I had Quick-Burn or something…. wou…. would you end it for me?"
A silence enveloped the two, the older trying to decide if the younger was serious and what reason he had to ask that, of all things.
"S-sure," The older of the two agreed shakily, "but that won't happen thought."
With that, the brothers got up to hunt, the disturbing conversion forgotten.
*Back to present day*
"Y-you knew?" Eyes as dark and hauntingly beautiful as a clear midnight sky widened, the dark tom didn't know whether to be shocked or awed.
"Yes."
"How?"
"A dr-dream….it must have been sent by FireClan…it was so beautiful". The dying apprentice said softly, voice filled with awe and pale orbs glazed, looking far away.
"P-please, FireClan's calling me, but don't wanna just fade away. P-please."
"O-ok, a promise is a promise…. I'll s-see you s-soon, Rabbitpaw." Voice strangled with emotion and with unshed tears in his eyes, the black tom slashed long claws through his dying brother's neck.
After a long time, a sick smirk made its way onto the dark tom's face.
The tom lifted his head form his prey, blinking to snap himself out of his previous trance-like state. Shock replaced the sick pleasure he'd felt.
'What have I done?' He looked down at the bloodless, half-devoured form at his pale gray paws. The acts he'd committed upon his devoted, dearly departed brother were hazy, almost dreamlike, in his mind. With an audible gulp, he winced upon finding the lingering metallic taste of blood coupled with the lean, salty, meaty taste of flesh.
Unable to coup with what he'd become, he decided to join his beloved brother. "I l-love y-you so much." The distressed tom whispered before the dull thud of his body echoed eerily throughout the quiet forest.
