"Hey!" House turned his attention from the shelf in Cuddy's Michigan dorm room to her, a small glass heart in his hand. "Give that," she got up and put her hand out.

"I'm just looking at it," he said, still holding onto it.

"Don't break my heart," she sat back down on her bed, "it was a gift from my grandma."

"Don't worry, I won't break it."

Her roommate walked in, "Hey House. Lise, I need to talk to you for a second."

"K. House do you-"

"I'll see you later," he interrupted her. "I have to go anyway," he slipped his hand in his jacket pocket, along with the fragile heart. Later he lay on his bed, turning it over with his fingers. Just feeling the smooth glass. Why did I take this? He asked himself.

The next time he went to Lisa's dorm, he tried to subtly put it back, but even looking through a text book she noticed, "If you like it so much, keep it."

"Thought you're grandma gave it to you. Making it, ya know, special and all."

She looked at him, "It is, but you can have it if you take good care of it."

"Pinky promiss I'll do my very best." It sat in his room for months, he'd forgotten it when Cuddy had started dating someone. But one day, he was laying on his bed and looked over at his desk and saw it. He leaned over and picked it up. Looking it over. Small, glass, purple, but still see through. House closed it tightly in his fist, it was his, he wasn't giving it up. Greg felt the very sudden urge to go visit her, and without really thinking, went to her dorm. He opened it without knocking as always. Lisa was cross legged on her bed, her eyes red and puffy.

She immediately wiped her eyes, trying to get rid of the evidence, "Hi. What's up?"

"I could ask you the same."

"Me and Rogger broke up." She said. "I'm fine. It's nothing."

"Clearly. I always get red, puffy eyes when I'm not bothered. Tell me. Do you need me to kick his ass?"

She laughed softly, "No, it's alright."

"You want me to hang out?" He put his hand that possesed the heart into his pocket. She nodded silently, he sat next to her on the edge of the bed. They talked for awhile, he took her mind off of unpleasant things, making her laugh. When he got up to leave an hour later, he reached for his jacket, and the heart fell out. Shattering on the floor. His eyes widened, "I am so sorry. I didn't mean to break your heart."

Her eyes widened as well, first in shock, then in anger. "Damn it House! I told you!" She sighed and bent down, picking up the pieces you the shattered heart she'd intrusted to him.

"Cuddy-"

"Just," she raised a silencing hand, "go." And he did.

Two days later, Cuddy answered the knock on her door. It was House, holding a red glass heart, "Sorry, there wasn't any purple."

She wanted to be pissed, but the way he looked just got to her. She smiled and let him in, accepting his heart. She didn't know how exactly it happened, but after they had talked for awhile, Greg House was pushing her shoulders back lightly til they hit the bed, Lisa pulling him down with her.
