CRY-ING DURING THE EVE-NING

In a small abandoned looking house in the woods, two voices could be heard whispering from the cellar.

Surrounded by darkness and the strong scent you get when those who have been claimed by death are ignored, two young teenage girls lie on a dirt and fur encrusted mattress.

They weren't looking at each other, but both where curled up exactly the same.

Identical small, pale and naked, strong looking bodies mirrored each other.

Their in-humanly curved spinal cords nearly touching.

Their oddly shaped ears poking through matted hair, both at the same angle.

Their long fingers tipped with sharp, dirty nails, both clasped their other hand.

The girl on the left side spoke.

"We can't keep living like this." Her voice was determined, but the cold mad it sound pitiful and hollow, she turned to face her companion. But the girl on the right didn't turn.

"I know that." She snapped, her voice sounded tired and was laced with sadness.

"Eva, they're dead. I can smell them, rotting away and, I want to leave." Eva twisted around to face the other girl.

"I know they're dead Cryesent! I can smell them just as bad as you can." Eva was glaring at the girl called Cryesent, her voice had lost the sadness and was replaced by anger.

"Don't you think I want to leave? I've lived my whole life in here too." Cryesent looked frightened at Eva's sudden outburst and tears where starting to well in her bright green eyes.

"I'm sorry Evaolia." Tears began falling down Cryesent's cheeks. Eva instantly looked guilty and she leant to pull her sister into a hug.

"Ce. Ce don't cry. I'm sorry I just don't want us to end up like them." Evaolia hugged the crying Cryesent as tears started to roll down her cheeks as well.

She looked over at the corner of the room where two furry hulking bodies lay.

When Evaolia finally stopped crying Cryesent had already fallen asleep within the embrace of her older sibling. Wiping the last of her tears away, Eva let herself relax and soon joined her sister in the peaceful tranquility that you can only seem to find when your sleep
