This is my first Sonic the Hedgehog fic, but flames will be accepted.
Seventeen year old Cream leaned against the wall, sipping a Sprite. All around her her friends laughed, danced, and drank. An orange cat, slightly younger than Cream drunkenly staggered up to her. "Come on Cream, have some, no one cares!" Her speech was slurred from the alcohol.
Cream shook her head, "No thank you, Ellie. My mom told me not to drink."
Ellie took another gulp of her drink before responding to Cream, "You still do what your mom says?"
Cream did not answer; she stared blankly at her Sprite, watching the little bubbles fizz. Ellie gave her friend on last look before turning back to the party.
Cream felt proud of herself, just like her mom said she would. She had to drive herself home so she shouldn't be drinking like her friends were.
Cream took another sip of her Sprite. She had made healthy choice. Across the room she could see Ellie and her other friends hanging out, drinking beers, and having a good time.
A brown dog sitting next to Ellie motioned for Cream to come over and have a drink. Cream shook her head. Ellie whispered something to the dog and they giggled.
Cream stifled a yawn as she looked at the clock. It was getting late; she should probably leave.
After waving good-bye to the drunk Ellie and tossing her almost empty Sprite into the trash can, Cream picked up her purse and headed out of the door. She rummaged through the purse slung around her shoulder until she found her keys.
Sitting down on the leather seat, that feeling of pride returned to her once more. She was glad she only had a Sprite; now she was sure to get home in one piece. But she never knew what was coming, she never expected it...
---
Next thing Cream knew, she was lying on the pavement. She could hear muffled voices speaking all around her.
"The cat that caused this wreck was obviously drunk..."
His voice seemed so far away to Cream. Her own blood was all around her. She could feel it soaking her fur and her clothes. She tried so hard not to cry as she heard the paramedic speak.
"This rabbit's not going to make it..."
She was sure the guy had no idea, that why he was flying high, because he chose to drink and drive, that this would happen to her. She was going to die now because of him...
Why do they do it, mom? Cream thought to herself as she lay there. Why do they do it when they know it ruins lives?
The pain cut her like a hundred stabbing knives. Mom, tell my friends not to be sad. Tell Amy not to be scared. Tell Tails that I'll miss him. Tell Rouge to put a jewel by my grave.
Someone should've taught him that it's wrong to drink and drive. Maybe if they did, I wouldn't have to die.
Cream's breath grew shorter. She was scared. These were her final moments...
As she lay dying on the blood soaked pavement, she wished her mom could be there. She wished she could just say "I love you Mom" one last time...
You flame, I laugh.
