Set after Emma and Hook come back from the past, but before Hook uses his cell to contact Emma
Emma practically skipped into the diner. She was looking forward to giving Hook an old cell phone she had dug out. She had a feeling he would be in there and made a beeline for his booth once she walked through the door. He didn't look up when the bell jangled so she slid into the booth next to him, pushing him along so she could fit next to him.
'Swan!' he greeted 'to what do I owe this pleasure?' he leaned against her slightly on the last word and gave her a devilish grin.
'I have something for you' she replied, then seeing his eyes light up and eyebrows raise impossibly high, she deposited the cell phone on the table in front of him before he could say something filthy.
Maybe it was because she remembered the excitement of getting her first cell, or that she thought he was keen on fitting into this world but she was disappointed at his reaction.
'Oh, it's a... ummm a' he picked up the phone in his good hand and examined it.
'It's a cell phone' she explained patiently. 'it means you can contact me from wherever' she moved in closer and took the phone from his hand, fingers brushing.
He moved his hooked arm over her head to rest along the top of the booth so she could move in closer. She leaned both her elbows onto the table and took the phone in both hands.
'Right, you see this button here? You need to press this to unlock the phone so you can use it. See?' she looked up at his face to see him attempting to peer down her top. 'Eyes over here buddy' she warned, but it came out deeper than she had planned.
'What!' he exclaimed 'I'm supposed to sit here and not look when you do that in front of me?' he slumped back into the booth like a petulant child.
'Well sorry for thinking it would be useful to reach each other at any time!' she gave up and went to slide out of the booth. His hand grabbed hers holding the phone and pulled her back to him.
'Wait, love' he spoke in a quiet tone. She thought she had won him over until she felt his fingers gently circling her knee under the table 'So if I were, to shall we say, wake in the night with a NEED, say a need for something, someone' his hand slid higher up the outside of her thigh, her heart was pounding in her chest 'I could use this device to speak to you, and convey this need to you?' she was lost in his eyes. She could feel the heat between her legs and she opened her mouth to reply.
'Hi Emma!' Mary Margaret interrupted, looking from Emma to Hook with a glint of amusement in her eye as Emma dropped the cell and it clattered to the table.
'Hi Mary Mom, I mean Mary Margaret. Mom' Emma winced and mentally chastised herself for feeling guilty. She wasn't doing anything wrong but could feel her heat in her cheeks.
'Oi!' Hook interjected 'Don't break my contact device!' he picked up the phone and examined it again.
Mary Margaret smiled at Emma 'You got him a cell phone?'
'Yeah' replied Emma 'It will be useful to get hold of him, you know because he is useful, when it comes to witches and ummm whatever' she was rambling.
Ruby chose this moment to interrupt. 'Two of the usual?' she nodded and left the table when Emma and Hook nodded in response.
'Well I'd better be going' Mary Margaret said, still looking from Hook to Emma 'I would of said Hi when you walked in but you didn't see me' She gave a knowing smile 'See you later Emma, Hook'
She walked away and they called goodbye to her retreating form.
Emma looked at Hook 'Do you want to learn or not? ' she gave him a serious look.
'Of course Love, anything to keep you close like this' he winked and she rolled her eyes. But they both moved closer.
He listened closely to the instructions and demonstration. They then chatted over their grilled cheese in a companionable way. Before each going off to finish their day. She couldn't help the huge grin on her face when he called down the street to her 'I'll call you!'
