A paper or letter if you may. All that remains. Elizabeth's unspoken words sat there, a crumpled ball in Ciel's hand. He never got past the first line before he crumpled up the letter. Leaving it on the small table next to him. He walked away. Sebastian picked it up unable to figure out the sudden change of mood in his master. Opening the letter to see Elizabeth's delicate hand writing. He began to read: Dear Ciel, I'm sorry you got this note. I never wanted you to find out what I did or why, but you have. I only wish you knew after the fire & your parents, deaths. I remember when you used to smile & laugh. We would always play together. But then you changed. You hardened up. You locked yourself away with your emotions as well. I remember the day I found out you were alive I couldn't wait to see you. And when I did you wouldn't smile. It was as if you never learned how. I then thought if I could make you smile just once maybe then… maybe but you never did. I then came to realize you would never smile again. I always thought it was my fault. If maybe I could change. But you always looked at me with the same look in your eyes, like your world had been destroyed & that you were alone & had no one left but I was there & I wanted you to just open your eyes & look, but you closed your eyes to the world. You turned your back on me. I only wish… I could have seen you smile again… just once… I wish. Yours truly, Elizabeth.

Today was sunny, the birds were flying, & the flowers were blooming. Elizabeth would have loved it but, Ciel thought "she wasn't here to see it. To breathe the spring air or to smell the flowers." Today, one year ago Elizabeth left Ciel; she left sad & empty feeling as though she had failed at life. Ciel sat alone, while everyone was busy outside, the Phantomhive household was quiet. The eerie halls missing their usual sounds. Mayrin dropping dishes. Finny cutting the lawn, Bard causing dinner to explode. The house & its staff seem to morn the death of Elizabeth. On her birthday they take out all her decorations turning the house into a cute mess. Ciel though where's a pink flower with everything he where's, everyday.

Ciel sits down on his bed & re-reads the letter written by Lizzie. Over & over again. Making sure his eyes eat up every inch of he hand writing, every perfect detail. "Someday" he says before smiling & going to sleep before Sebastian even goes up stairs to check on him. "Ahhhhh". Mayrin's scream rang through the house the next morning waking everyone else. Finny & Bard reach her first by now she is on the floor hugging her knees. Finny & Bard enter the room which is known as Ciel's bedroom and stand there in shock moments later Sebastian walks into the room surprised. "I thought he was more emotionally stable then this" he murmurs. Sebastian cuts the rope supporting his lifeless master to the ceiling. The last words of the great Earl of Phantomhive are written on a piece of paper. Sebastian picks it up & reads it. The only words on it state: aguilty man dies with a guilty mans conscious. Sebastian smiles to himself thinking "the king has fallen. Checkmate."
