Seeing Kara hurt was one of the most painful things either Lucy or Lena had ever seen, and both had parents try and kill them.

They watched as Kara was wheeled off a MEDEVAC chopper and into the DEO as a dozen people rushed around trying to save her. They watched as the doors sealed cutting them off from their mate as the heart monitors beeped erratically.

They waited and stared at the concrete walls for 7 hours as the doctors worked to save her. They can't bring themselves to move, the terror of what might happen is so overwhelming. They cry when Alex tells them Kara will be ok, that their mate will live.

They waited three days before their love awoke from a coma. They watched her struggle to open her eyes. They watch as their ray of sunshine seems to darken with the realisation of where she is.

They watched as their lover once as strong as a mountain collapsed to the floor as weak as a kitten. They rush to help her off the ground from where she lays, cringing in pain. They call Alex terrified when she starts to bleed, her stitches torn.

They listen to the screams of anguish she releases when her night terrors take over. They pull her close when she awakens terrified, heart pounding. They pull her into their soft caresses as she cries herself to sleep. They listen when she tells them what she remembers and how terrified she is.

They see the light dim from her eyes when she is told she will never be super again. They watch the tears that fall when her sister tells her that that piece of her is gone. They hold her as she mourns its loss., and later that night they lay her between them letting her feel their love for her above all else.

But most of all they hold her tight because no matter what the universe might throw at them, Kara is still theirs, they still love her. For better or worse for richer or in poorer, Kara is their mate, and she is theirs, and nothing can ever change that.

And years later they watch on in bliss as Kara beams down at a small swaddled bundle in her arms. And when Kara smiles at them they smile back before pulling both Ankara and their child into an embrace
