The shorter chapters will become longer, something's in the chapters will change, and my crappy ass grammar and spelling will be fixed, hopefully. Its still kind of sucky. xD But yeah, hopefully I can fix this story up and make it somewhat better. I'll try, at least, lol. Now, as for the next chapter, I'm not really sure when I'll be starting on it, but it should be soon, so don't worry c: A big thank you to every one who has stuck with me thus far and enjoyed my story up until now. I hope you'll all like the chances that I'm going to make, and that you'll all still enjoy it when in finished. I love you all! c:
Chapter 1
Charlie Bucket quickly walked down the seemingly empty sidewalk, the cool fall breeze tousling his shaggy brown hair. The 14-year-old sighed nervously, a small frown forming on his face. The day had not been very kind to the youngster and he had a feeling it wasn't about to get better. As he walked, he couldn't help but have the sickening feeling that he was being watched. That's very unsettling... he thought, his eyes wandering from side to side.
"Hey Bucket!" Suddenly, a familiar taunting voice met Charlie's ears and he instantly felt his blood run cold. Oh no, not Randy! The boy thought in horror. Randy, the school bully stood just a few yards away, he's "partners in crime" standing right behind him. They all have tormented poor Charlie since they were in grade school.
"Well, well, well, look what we've got here fellas, its candy boy." Said Randy, his friend's snickering cruelly. He then walked towards Charlie, who in turn backed away and bumped up against the wall behind him. Crap...
"You know the cost of tryin' to run away from your beatin', dontcha Bucket?" Randy asked, smiling evilly. He slowly began popping his knuckles, while his friends took hold of Charlie's coat to keep him still.
"You know...That's not very nice." Said a sudden female voice. The three bully's all turned their attention from the cowering Charlie, to a young woman, who leaned up against the wall beside them.
"Hey, where the hell did you come from?" Randy asked, steeping away from Charlie and giving the woman a mean look.
"I don't really see how that's any of your business." The woman said as if uninterested, while examining her dark painted nails. Randy looked at his friend's, who surged in response. "Now, how about you leave him alone, before things get ugly." She said, and evil gleam in her eyes. Randy rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Look lady, I don't know who you are, but were kinda busy here. So how about you take your pretty face and walk away." He said, then turned back to Charlie and raised his fist.
"I said...LEAVE HIM ALONE!" The woman screeched angrily, then pounced forward, knocking him off his feet. Letting go of Charlie's coat, Randy's 'so called friend's' ran down the street, as if there life's depended on it. Slowly, Randy got up and backed away from the woman, a scared expression on his face.
"You're crazy lady! Crazy!" He shouted and he fled down the street, pushing Charlie down in the process.
"Yeah run away you little baby's! I'd better not see you around Charlie again!" She called after them, a triumphant grin on her face. She then turned to Charlie and helped him to his feet. "You alright?" she asked, ruffling his hair.
"Yes, thanks Ellie." Charlie said, smiling up at his older friend. Charlie had known Ellie for as long as he could remember. When he was still a small child, he remembered time's when Ellie would play with him when his parents were busy. So he had grown rather found of the strange girl with the aqua eyes.
"No problem, squirt. Those little creeps have no right to bother you, you know." Ellie said, crossing her arms over her chest and nodding her head at the thought. Charlie just shook his head in response, a small smile on his face. This girl reminds me more and more of Willy every day. He thought to himself, giggling softly.
"What's so funny?" Ellie asked raising an eyebrow.
"Oh nothing!" Said Charlie, a large smile on his face. Ellie stared at him for a moment, before shrugging it off.
"Well come on Charlie. I don't want your mom thinking I kidnaped you or something." She said with large eyes. With a laugh, Charlie took hold of Ellie's hand and led the way down the sidewalk and towards the factory in which he lived. As they walked, the two engaged in friendly conversation. "So hows the family, Kid? The old folk doin' alright?" she asked. Charlie smiled, and eagerly nodded his head.
"Yeah everyone's great!" He paused and looked over at her. "They all really miss you Ellie. They talk about you all the time." He said, giving her a sad smile. Ellie bit the inside of her mouth and gave a small sigh.
"Well tell them I miss them too." She said. Charlie smiled and nodded his head. Soon the two made to the gates of the factory, where they were greeted with a warm smile from Charlie's mother, Mrs. Bucket.
"Hullo, Charlie dear. Hullo Ellie." Mrs. Bucket said and gave them both warm hugs.
"Hi mum." Charlie responded with a smile.
"Hello Mrs. Bucket." Ellie said doing the same. She then turned to Charlie, a sad smile on her face.
"Well squirt, I guess I should get goin'." She said, slight disappointment in her voice. She really didn't want to be alone at the moment.
"Wait!" Mrs. Bucket said with protest. Both Ellie and Charlie looked at her. "Ellie, why don't you stay and have dinner with the family? I know they would love to see you again." She said, a hopeful smile on her face.
"Oh I..I don't want to intrude. And besides, wouldn't Mr. Wonka get mad?" Ellie asked,
"Oh nonsense dear, we would love to have you for dinner! And I'm sure Willy wouldn't mind, would he Charlie" she asked her son. Wow this woman sure is persistent. Thought Ellie.
"No of course not! Please Ellie?" Charlie begged, putting on his best puppy dog face. Ellie quickly looked away, knowing she could resist the dreaded 'Puppy dog face'. She looked back at him and frowned. Well, it has been a long time since I seen all of them….she thought, a sigh escaping her lips.
"Oh alright, fine! But only cuz' I can't say no to that face of yours, Charlie." Ellie said, playfully poking Charlie's nose.
"Great!" He said and grabbed her hand, pulling her through the gates. He then went on and on about how excited everyone as going to be and this and that. She wasn't really paying attention though. She was way too nervous. She felt heart speed up as the approached the massive doors of the factory. As they walked inside, she was hit by a wave of overpowering heat.
"Oh dear God." Ellie whispered. "Why is it so hot in here?" She asked, quickly shrugging out of her coat and looking around the large entrance hall. It was made up of light colored stone with a red carpet that rolled out to the other end of the room. Charlie smiled.
"The workers are use to an extremely hot climate." he said, quoting his mentor.
"Oh...? And who are the workers exactly?" Ellie asked. When the sound of an awkward cough met her ears, she looked down and gasped, jumping in surprise. In front of her was the smallest man she had ever seen. "What the- He's so tiny!" she said, gawking at the small creature.
"That's Sherman. He's an Oompa Loompa." Charlie explained, a grin on his face.
"An Oompa Whata?" Ellie asked, raising an eyebrow. She was so very confused.
"An Oomap Loompa. These are Mr. Wonka's mysterious workers." Mrs. Bucket said. Ellie's eyebrows shot up in shock. So that's how he did it. She thought and looked back to the little man. She slowly bent down to his level and looked him in the face.
"Um….hey there Sherman. I'm Ellie." She said with an awkward smile. Sherman smiled and waved his small hand. He then ran off through a small tunnel, disappearing from sight. "Well that was just weird." Ellie said, standing up streight and scratching the back of her head.
"You get use to it." Charlie said with a shrug, then grabbed her hand and dragged her to the end of the hallway. The further they walked, the smaller and smaller the hallway became. Soon they came to a small door, which was too small for even a mouse to fit through.
"Um Charlie?" Ellie asked nervously. Charlie smirked and unlocked the tiny door. Placing a hand on the wall, the boy looked back at his friend, a mysterious gleam in his eyes.
"Ellie, welcome to the Chocolate Room."
