A/N: So, I'm barely into season two, but I needed to write Ten/Rose fluff. Ignore that it doesn't really follow canon.
"So, where are we?" Rose asked as the TARDIS came to a stop. The Doctor ignored her as he flitted around, heading downstairs, then back up, then back down, grabbing random things as he went. "Doctor, answer me!"
"It's a surprise," he called back.
She rolled her eyes. She looked over at the door and grinned. Well, if the Doctor wouldn't tell her where they were, she would just find out for herself. She had almost made it to the door when he caught her hand, spinning her around to look at him. "I thought I told you it was a surprise."
"You did," she responded. "I just got tired of waiting."
He raised an eyebrow at her, causing her to giggle softly. He let go of her hand to step around her, opening the door as he did so. The sound of crashing waves flooded the TARDIS, causing Rose to immediately rush out. "We're at the beach?" She laughed, running to the edge of the water. She stopped suddenly, eyes widening. "Wait, we're not on some freaky planet where I'm going to disintegrate if I touch the water, right?"
"Nope, it's just normal, boring, Earth ocean water."
She shook her head, a grin stretching her lips as she looked out at the water. The sun was just setting, casting a fiery glow to everything around them. "What year is it?"
"Does it matter? We're here now."
She turned around, her breath hitching as she caught sight of him. A sheet was spread across the sand, decorated with a picnic basket, a bottle of wine, two glasses, and a vase with a single rose in it.
"A picnic?" She inquired as she sat on the blanket, opposite of him. "What's all this for?"
He poured them both a glass of wine, smiling as he did so. "I'll let you figure that out for yourself."
"It's strange, isn't it?" Rose asked, staring up at the stars. "We've been to so many amazing places up there and yet so many people don't even know they exist. They just go about their day working and eating chips. How could you be happy living like that?"
"Ignorance is bliss," the Doctor stated simply from his place beside her. "They don't know how amazing the universe is, so they're comfortable with their lives."
She was curled against his side, head resting on his chest. Night had long fallen, the moon casting silvery rays across their skin. "I can't believe that it's been a year since you invited me to come along with you."
He chuckled lowly, stroking her hair. "Finally figured it out then, have you?"
"Was that what all this was for, then? Celebrating a year together?" She teased, looking up at him.
"Well, why not?" He smirked. "After all, we have all the time in the world."
