Klaine and Finchel live together.
Kurt and Blaine are downtown getting coffee.
They go to cross the street.
A car comes speeding down the road, running a red light.
Blaine got hit, because he pushed Kurt out of the way.
… … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …
The car stops and Kurt runs out to Blaine, cradling him in his arms.
Blaine smiles weakly and tries to focus on Kurt instead of the pain.
"Kurt, sweetheart, I love you. You know that, right?"
"No, no, no, don't start this Blaine. You're going to be fine. Please don't talk like that. You won't-"
Kurt lets out a choked sob, cutting himself off.
"Kurt?"
"Y-yeah, baby?"
"I love you so much."
"I love you too, Blaine. So, so much."
"I'm sorry I'll never be able to spend the rest of my life showing you just how much I do, but..."
Blaine reaches into his pocket, ignoring the flare of pain that shoots up his arm as he does so, and pulls out a small box.
Kurt gasps when Blaine opens it, revealing the most beautiful engagement ring he had ever laid eyes on.
"Would you have said yes?"
"O-Of course! But Blaine, don't say that like I won't get the chance. You're going to live, and we're going to have a beautiful wedding. Finn w-will be the best man, and we'll have m-matching corsages."
"The same shade as your eyes."
"Yes, the same shade as m-" He has to take a deep breath to hold off the sobs. "The same shade as my eyes."
He carefully takes the ring out of the box and puts it onto his finger, giving Blaine a watery smile.
"It's perfect, just like you. I'm glad-" Blaine hisses at the pain and closes his eyes for a moment. "I'm glad that you said yes. At least I can remember you as my fiance."
At this moment, Kurt crushed his lips against Blaine's, kissing him more passionately than he ever had before. Their lips moved together perfectly, as they always did, but this time they both knew the kiss would be the last they shared.
Kurt held on to Blaine as if his life depended on it, and kissed him until he finally felt those plump lips go slack against his, all life drained from who they belonged to.
And as he choked on his own tears, he finally noticed the car that hit Blaine, and the person who owned it.
The person he saw made the tears come all over again, somehow stronger this time.
The one who killed Blaine, who took away his boyfriend, no, his fiance, his one true love, was someone who he would have to see every day of his life and be forced to remember everything that happened today for the rest of his life.
For the person who stood there by the car, a heartbroken look on his face, was Finn.
