A/N: I have no idea where this came from. I guess I just started wondering who was keeping the Weevils from murdering everyone while Gwen was in hiding, and it came down to only one person- everyone's favorite ginger Welsh policeman. Slight Badass!Andy, well not really slight. Andy's pretty kickass in this if I do say so myself. *coughs* anyway. Read
Three months ago, Gwen Cooper went into hiding. Since then, there had been several strange killings, bodies found horribly mutilated and bloody. No one knew exactly who or what was doing these killings, but everyone knew the rumors. Words like "monsters" or "nightmares" or even "aliens" were circulating around the city. And it went on like this.
Two months ago, Police Constable Andy Davidson was walking home from a nearby pub, when he heard someone scream. His instincts as a police officer kicked in, and he sprinted towards the sound, which was quickly followed by another. He found himself at the front of an alleyway, standing and staring. A teenaged girl, not any older than 16, was pressed back against a brick wall, cornered by two hunched over figures. He shouted at the figures, told them to leave her alone, or he'd be forced to arrest them. But when they turned around and gave him an animalistic roar as a response, when they turned around and he saw them, that was when he knew. He knew that these were the creatures that had been doing the killings, and he had seen them before. These were the things that Torchwood dealt with. Weevils, he remembered them being called. And he certainly remembered that they were not human, and highly dangerous. So he did the only thing he could think of to do. He took out his gun, and shot one of them in the head until it fell down. Then his mind was flooded with two images. His currently empty gun, and the Weevil charging towards him. And as he reached for his spare ammunition, he thought that this might be the end of him. The Weevil was fast...but Andy was faster.
One month ago, newly promoted Sergeant Andy Davidson found more Weevils, running astray through the night. He killed them, just as he had killed the two in the alley a month earlier. He had figured out that the absence of Torchwood had caused a spike in Weevil population in the city, and that if something wasn't done, then the killings would go on. At first, he was afraid. Afraid for the people of Cardiff, afraid for his own life, and, because of his pure heart and good nature, he even felt a slight twinge of sympathy for the Weevils. But he quickly brushed that thought away, knowing it was wrong. He stood up from his crouching position on the pavement, and Andy knew what he had to do.
Tonight, Sergeant Andy Davidson stares a Weevil in the face, not the slightest hint of fear hidden behind his brown eyes. No fear, no worry, no sympathy. Just determination, and protectiveness. Two weeks ago, he had let his desire to protect Cardiff overwhelm his fear of the Weevils. He smirked slightly at the creature, and raised his gun, just as had so many nights over the past month. The Weevil started to charge, and for a moment, he wondered if this was going to become a permanent part of his life. And then, he squeezed the trigger, without even blinking.
