Everyone thinks love is this romantic walk on the beach, that in the end it doesn't matter who you love, why you love them, or how you love them. That's only partially true. I know this from experience. Maybe at the time I didn't know that I loved Ben Solo. But it was clear we had a connection of sorts, so yes. Maybe I do and maybe I did love him. But I screwed it up.
It was slashing, mind probing, and hacking at each other. Sending each other falling and the bruises. Neither of them had stopped to really breath in hours. It was constant trying to kill each other. His movements growing more predictable with every growing slash in his form. Hers getting ragged whilst trying to stay alive with a hole in my stomach. Both of them had been completely silent until now. "I'm impressed. Maybe Luke isn't a complete idiot after all." The monotononism in his voice poured even more sarcasm than usual. Rey ducked underneath the next deadly arc, slipping her foot behind Kylo's and sweeping it in a circling motion. Both of them lost their footing. Lightsabres out of reach. Rey rolled on her stomach, sending her fist straight into the chink in Kylo's mask. It cracked with a deafening sound. The former scavenger had managed to disorient him long enough to roll on top of him and get her lightsabre back. Luckily she had the sense to push Kylo's closer to the edge of the cliff they stood near.
The blue heat of the right end to Rey's lightsabre threatened to singe th
e skin on Kylo's neck. "Give up," It was meant to be intimidating. Throwing Rey off when he laughed, the man had gotten amusement out of the pain she had just caused him.
"You know, I think I was wrong... about you Rey-" She pressed her lightsabre down more, against Kylo's resistant hands. "-when we first met, I thought you could never make a good Sith in the First Order. But then I realized all that anger and loneliness... you would do just fine." Kylo moved quickly. Bringing his knee up into the woman's stomach, he sent her flying several feet back, but not completely to the edge. She managed to scramble away before the snow proved fatal, her nose and mouth were bloodied, but Rey had sustained the least amount of injuries of the two. Kylo was holding his stomach, the Jedi had opened a wound in his stomach where Chewbacca had shot him once before. The snow was tainted red as Kylo force pulled his lightsabre towards him. He brought it down in an angry red arch, that was met with such an angry column of spark most of the snow around them had melted. Rey knew that there was no way to get out of this situation, so instead, she did what Kylo wouldn't expect her to do.
She yanked the man by the cloak, and they fell.
