"They were polar opposites, the one from the Capital and the one from the Seam. I mean- look at them- a dirty, tangled mop of hair and a bright pink wig..." Peeta held up a picture of said couple to his two children. They sat, listening intently. "Legend goes," Peeta's voice went into a whisper. "that on the day they met, tornados and earthquakes shook all of Panem! He jumped up, and the children started shivering. Katniss, with a frying pan in hand and an apron on, wacked him over the head.

"Don't listen to him, it went like this. A long, long time ago, longer then even Old Man Wrinkle, a man by the name of Haymitch was born, yelling and screaming like a little monster. Nearly right after his birth, he had chugged a whole bottle of whiskey. He was named the toughest baby in Panem. Later that evening, another child was born, this time all the way in the Capital. She was named Effalda, and was given a bright pink wig as a present." The children oooed and ahhhed listening to the story.

Peeta laughed and rub his head, where a large bump was growing. "Now its you who's taking things a bit too far." Peeta coughed. "One day, Haymitch one a special game. What game, I'll tell you later. A few year after that Effie came all the way down here to meet him. Once they walked onstage," Peeta made fists and knocked them together. "Boom, instant connection." Katniss chimed in.

"The first words they said to each other were first, from Haymitch to Effie, I like your hair. And from Effie to Haymitch, your breath smells nice."

Peeta butted in. "And they hugged each other in a clash of love! They loved each other so much they had to be sent to the infirmary! And that's how Effie and Haymitch met," Peeta said proudly.

Katniss just shook her head.
