"Saleh, can I get your help on something?"

Ewan has been incredibly quiet, Saleh noticed. While Saleh usually just left Ewan to his own devices, his recent attitude concerned him. Ewan always had something to say, and his quiet streak perturbed him.

"Sure Ewan, how can I help you?"

Ewan grew silent again, trying to find the words.

"Well… umm… you see…"

"Out with it!"

"I'minlovewithAmeliaandIneedyou rhelptotalktoher."

Saleh stood there, trying to piece together what the heck Ewan just said. Something about talking and Amelia. After a few seconds, Saleh processed what he said.

"Ewan, wouldn't Tethys be a better consultant for this sort of thing?"

Ewan looked annoyed," Yeah, if she wasn't spending all her time with Gerik."

Saleh smirked. Gerik and Tethys's relationship was well known, especially after Eirika caught them in the medical tent doing… things that shouldn't be done in a medical tent. Regardless, Saleh really wasn't the judge for this sort of thing.

"Ewan…" Saleh stuttered, something he rarely did, "Well… talk to me about it."

"Well, she's fun and cute."

"That's it?"

"Yep."

Well, that's not a lot to go on. Saleh's brain was racing, trying to find the right thing to say. He had to admit, they did work for each other. Amelia and Ewan both loved having fun, and looking for that fun everywhere. "How you make it fun" as Ewan always says.

"Well, have you talked to her?"

"Yes, but I seemed like a real careless joker both times."

"Ewan, you are a careless joker."

"That doesn't mean she needs to know that."

"Listen to me, just.. Tell her how you feel. Love can find anyone, so long as you talk."

"Coming from the man whose average word per day count is 100."

Saleh smirked again. Ewan always knew how to make him happy, despite the fact that he never laughed or smiled.

Ewan began again," What do you mean, though?"

"Well, think about it. Look at, say, Joshua and Natasha. They're complete opposites. Joshua is laid back and loud, where as Natasha is serious and reserved. They are nothing alike, yet they are perfect for one another. Even opposites make amazing things."

"Huh.. Opposites make amazing things… so does that mean Joshua and Natasha will make amazing babies?"

Saleh ALMOST started laughing hysterically, but he held it in for a smile.

"I'm sure of it, Ewan."

Ewan gave one of his bright smiles that could turn a gorgon into a pacifist.

"Talk to her… okay! I'll try! You better follow your advice, too Teacher!"

Ewan ran off, leaving Saleh unsure of what he meant, until Ewan turned around and pointed behind Saleh. After Saleh turned around, he saw Eirika walking towards him. Saleh was always amazed at how well Ewan knew him.

That day, master and pupil talked to the women that would become their wives. And, though Saleh would never say this to Eirika, nor Ewan to Amelia, the two mages held a bond closer than that of love and family, closer than any wife or sister could hope to match.
