A/n: Hello all! This is my first story in about a year and I hope to finish up my other story shortly- but I needed something to get me going. So, here it is- enjoy.
This takes place during Rory's Chilton Graduation.
Disclaimer: Not mine, nor will it ever be.
She sees him standing there, looking like he always did, with his brown hair messy and a disheveled appearance. Her heart beats faster within her chest as she forgets to breathe, and she wonders at this all too familiar- yet long forgotten feeling.
He leans against a marble pillar watching her do something that he failed to do. Graduate. The word sounds odd coming from his lips, but he relishes any word that has to do with her.
Her mind races with questions. She is dying to know where he went, why he left, why he came back, and mostly importantly, if he can stay. She slowly walks towards him, for once putting her mother second: second only to him in her heart.
He prepares himself for the onslaught of questions which will inevitably come. Questions after questions. Of course he would answer any of her questions if it means she will talk to him. She is drawing nearer and he sees a small smile on her face, and for once in his life he doesn't hold back; and smiles in return.
She stops right in front of him, her mind screaming at her to speak- to ask him the questions she needs to know. Or, more likely, what she thinks she needs to know. For the first time in her life, she listens to her heart, not her brain, and says, "I've missed you." The words sound strangled with emotion, yet totally heartfelt. She thinks she likes her heart's way of speaking. And he thinks he agrees. In the back of his mind, he knows the questions will come later, but for now he has heard all he needed to hear.
