Hey everyone! So I realize that I have been gone for quite a bit, and I would like to apologize for that absence. Recently I've been spending a majority of my time on Archive Of Our Own and publishing stories there, so if you're a KPOP fan you check those out under the author StarlightArmy28. At the moment I have ongoing VIXX and Seventeen fanfictions up.

Anyway, thanks for everyone who has stuck with me so far and all of the new users who have liked my stories and favorited me! Enjoy the story!

Disclaimer: What I would give to meet Song Joong-Ki….I do not own Descendants of the Sun.

"I'm sorry."

While he was gone, the time spent alone moved in slow motion.

The days passed by at an infuriating pace as if to remind Mo Yeon that he was, in fact, no longer here beside her.

His smiling face wouldn't greet her as she walks into a coffee shop where a date he would never attend took place. His jokes would forever be missing, old ones playing like a dull record over and over and over. His eyes-so full of attentiveness and….love-those eyes were burned into her brain. Everything about him was filed safely in her mind, because he couldn't be gone….could he?

Cold mornings consisting of entwined fingers and tea, warm nights spent gazing at the stars….there was still time to do that because no, he couldn't be gone….could he?

Mo Yeon thought volunteering in Albania to commemorate his death would help her to move on. She thought the change of scenery would give her time to think about him and what he would want her to do….yet her thoughts always wandered back to the same question. He couldn't be gone….could he?

The wind whipped through the desert, the sun casting its brightness all around. When "big boss" was heard over the walkie-talkie, Kang Mo Yeon believed herself to be crazy.

"Turn around."

No….yes….no….

Yes, she would turn around and confront the sad truth that she was going insane from loneliness and-

Be met by his silhouette making its way over the sand towards her.

Her heart thumped fast in her chest, his face coming into view.

It really was him.

She knew she was making a fool of herself when she started running up the rough dune, managing to trip halfway through her trek. He seemed not mind as he ran to her, that familiar protectiveness evident in his eyes.

"You were alive."

"I'm sorry."

"You were alive."

His arms wrapped around her comfortingly as she began to weep, refusing to let go when she returned the hug.

He was right here in front of her….alive.

So he couldn't be gone….could he?

This could very well be a figment of her imagination caused by exhaustion. She could be passed out in the sand at this very moment, dreaming about them being reunited. It seemed so unreal.

Yet it was real. He was real.

So he couldn't be gone….could he?

Of course not.

He was never gone at all.
