Sam chewed absentmindedly on the chips he had picked up at the store. He was in the library of the bunker reading a book on Greek mythology. He turned the page and snuggled deeper into his armchair.

Light footsteps alerted him to the presence of someone else, and he looked up briefly. He was surprised to see Gabriel enter with a book in his hand. He didn't look at Sam, though the hunter knew that Gabriel knew he was there.

Gabe snapped up a beanbag chair and plopped down on it with a content sigh. Sam watched with raised eyebrows as Gabriel opened the book and began to read. Sam watched for a moment more before returning to his own book.

For a while, the only sounds were pages turning and the hum of the fluorescent lights overhead. After about fifteen minutes, Sam heard a huge sigh and had to hold back a smile. He was wondering how long Gabriel would last. Honestly, Sam was surprised he had been sitting still and reading for fifteen minutes.

"Hey, I heard that thought," Gabriel said in mock annoyance. He got up and stretched before walking over to Sam's chair. He took Sam's book and sat down in the hunter's lap, curling up with his head resting on Sam's chest.

He handed the book back and opened his own, snuggling into Sam. The hunter raised his eyebrows in surprise, but didn't say anything. He waited to see if Gabriel would get bored and get off. He didn't.

With a resigned sigh, he opened his book and started reading again, though he smiled into Gabriel's hair. This was nice, he decided. Even if it would never happen again.

"And who said that this is a one time deal?" Gabriel asked, eyes never leaving the page. "I'll have you know that I happen to love reading."

"Really?" Sam asked skeptically.

"Yup. Just because you've never seen me read doesn't mean I don't."

"But you're with us, like, all the time and I've never seen you even look at a book," Sam pointed out.

"What do you think I do when you guys are asleep? Just stand there and watch you? I'm not Cassie, you know." Gabriel looked up from his book and gazed at Sam with amusement in his eyes.

"Oh," was all Sam could say. He decided to use a trick he had learned a long time ago, something guaranteed to alleviate any awkward silence. Change the subject. "So, whatcha reading?"

Gabriel scoffed out a laugh and held up his book so Sam could see the title.

"You like Harry Potter?" Sam asked incredulously.

"Yeah," Gabriel said, sounding defensive. "It's a good book series."

"Is this your first time reading it?"

"Try eighty-fifth."

"Wow, Gabe," Sam said. "I gotta say, I'm impressed. I didn't peg you for the reading type."

"I know," Gabriel said, twisting in Sam's lap so that he was facing Sam. "I can read your mind, remember?" Gabriel laughed at the embarrassed blush creeping up Sam's face and pressed his lips to Sam's, pleased when the hunter responded. Reading was forgotten for the next few hours and Dean became even more mentally scarred than he already was.

"Jesus fucking Christ! Get a room, you sickos!"
