It's Just Not Fair, a Harper's Island oneshot fanfiction

I knew it was you. For a long time, I knew. Harkin knew too, but neither of us said anything. I didn't want to believe it, and Harkin respected that. It's like a couple that's been married for years, but, out of the blue (to be clichéd), they suddenly don't feel anything for each other anymore; they both may know, but neither says anything so they won't hurt the other.

When I escaped from the jail, I did it for two reasons. One, I had to get away from Shane's dumb ass. Two, I was done playing along with this scenario and your little game. I knew I was going to die. I just didn't care.

Should I have?

In the end, I'll never know just why you did this. And even though I claimed to hate you, when you stabbed me...I honestly felt betrayed.

In the end, I lost all of my family.

And in the end, I stopped being a pawn in your sick little game and just became the twelfth person you and whoever else did this killed. Just another statistic. JD Dunn, age 23, victim number 12.

"It's not fair," you whispered as I sunk to the ground, weak after your knife penetrated my stomach. "It's not fair" over and over and over again.

No, it's not fair.

It's not fair that I've lost everyone I've cared about. It's not fair that you saved me all those years ago only to kill me now. And it's not fair that I'll never get any answers other than, "It's all for Abby."

Hey...it'd be nice if next time around, we ended up being brothers again...don't you think?
