Author's Note: This was just something I couldn't get out of my head. I should be updating A Weekend Away soon, but I'm having writer's block. Constructive criticism and reviews are welcome! Takes place after Wannabe in the Weeds.

Disclaimer: I don't own Bones. Fox does. This is just for fun.

She walked into her apartment and dropped her things in a heap on the floor. Normally she would have put them away, but tonight was different. She headed towards her bathroom with only one thought in her mind.

She stripped and stepped into a shower that was much too hot. She scrubbed her hands, the water stained red as it pooled around her feet before it was sucked down the drain. She relished in the numbness the pain from the water was giving her- it allowed her to focus on something other than the fact that he was gone and held the emotions that were threatening to envelop her at bay.

The blood finally gone, she stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around herself before walking back into her bedroom and grabbing the first clothes she saw. She pulled them on and sat down on the edge of the bed. She drew in a shaky breath and she felt a tear run down her cheek.

On an impulse, she ran into the living room and knelt next to her purse, fishing out her cell phone. Leaning against her front door, she looked down at the phone in her hands. She hit speed-dial one and put the phone to her ear. She waited as it rang one, two, three times before the voicemail kicked in.

"Hey, you've reached the phone of Seeley Booth. I can't answer the phone right now, so you should leave a message and I'll get back to you." She heard the familiar voice come over the phone and she choked on a sob that rose in her throat. Tears began to run down her cheeks as she pulled the phone away from her ear and ended the call. She clutched the phone as the full force of her emotions hit her and she wrapped her arms around her legs, letting her head fall onto her knees. There she stayed as the night turned into day and life outside of her apartment went on.
