Gabriella was fully prepared for the tough night in front of her. She pulled out her sleeping bag and walked through the trees to find their tent, but to her it looked like a deflated elephant. Just then, Taylor emerged from behind a bush and set her bags down. She folded her arms and looked at the 'tent'.
"We're sleeping in this?" she asked, wrinkling her nose.
"Um…I think so. Where's Sharpay? Maybe she'd know how to set it up..."
"Sharpay? Oh, please…she has a tough time with long division!"
"I do not!"
They turned around and saw Sharpay walking towards them, struggling with five or six bags.
"Could you have any more stuff?" Gabriella asked.
"Umm yes, and I do. Someone has to help me get the rest of my stuff from the car."
Taylor followed her back to the car with a sigh and Gabriella began hitching up the tent. When they came back, Gabriella had one of the bars in one of the holes. Sharpay and Taylor helped her, but the job was soon a jumble of strings, hooks, pegs, fabric, holes, knots, and the occasional tie.
"Sharpay, this is no time to be doing your nails, help me with this hook!"
"I'm supervising!"
"Hold the bar!"
"Grab the end, Taylor!"
"I'm trying!"
"Well, try harder!"
"Move, I can't see!"
"Neither can I!"
"Help me with this end, I think it's stuck."
"It's not stuck, it's supposed to go in that hole!"
"That hole has a hook in it!"
"Then switch them up!"
"How?"
"I'm so confused."
"Maybe we should start over!"
"No way!"
"AHHHHH bug!"
"Calm down, Sharpay, it's an ant!"
"It's gonna bite me!"
"Oh, brother."
One hour later, the tent was up. Not up correctly, but just up enough for one night. They piled all their stuff in there, and Taylor pulled out some food.
"Here…"
"What is this?"
"Juice."
"Eww, do you have any idea how many carbs this has?"
"Get over it."
"How dare you!"
"Ok, maybe snacks were a bad idea."
"Yeah, let's just talk."
Taylor put the snacks back in the bag and sighed. Gabriella laid on her stomach, and Sharpay began filing her nails…again. After a long silence, Gabriella sighed.
"This is fun."
"Um…yeah, sure."
"I still think we should've gone to the spa."
"But that's so boring!"
"We wouldn't have had to set up the tent."
"We? Actually, it was mostly me and Gabriella!"
Sharpay looked down and there was a small silence.
"Fine, Taylor, remind me how I'm not good at anything…I don't care, it's not like I have feelings." She said quietly. Taylor looked up.
"No, no…I didn't mean it like that!"
"Sure."
"Sharpay, you helped out, I'm just grumpy."
"Please."
Gabriella sat up. "Guys, we all did something. You know that whole 'team work' thing? Well, we've got it covered! Right?" she looked around.
"I guess."
"Kinda."
Sharpay put the filer away. "She's right. Even if this was hard, I'm still having fun."
"Yeah, me too!"
"What should we do now?"
"Oh! I know! We could tell scary stories!"
Sharpay smiled. "Scary stories on a camping trip…Perfect!"
"This is gonna be so fun!"
Just then, there was a flash of lightening followed by rumbling of thunder.
"Are you kidding me?" Taylor whined. It soon began raining, and, seeing as how the rain cover was lost, they picked up heir things and quickly ran to Taylor's back door. They opened it and ran in the kitchen.
"Luckily we decided it'd be better to camp in your back yard, or we'd be soaked!"
