Chapter 1: The Beginning of Beginnings
A bright sunny day...
That was the thought I kept to myself as I rode my bike. It had been a little cloudy these past days...which I wasn't glad those days. Cloudy weather seemed to make me a bit "off". Also, I couldn't get my laundry dry.
School had just ended last week. I'm glad for that. I needed a break after a whole week of cramming my brain with information of the "Second World War" and with "Laws and Principles of scientists and their Chemical Elements. Add to that, I had to remember several equations for my physics and trigonometry exam and also those English lessons with "verbs and nouns".
I heaved a sigh of relief and pedalled faster.
Oh, I might have introduced myself first. My name is Zukamori Kairi. Most of my friends call me Kaichi-chan. I have no idea why they added the -chi part.
I just turned 13 last April 1st. I study in Tsubasa Academia, grade 7 now. But we're still on vacation break. As I said, the exams nearly killed me so I'm happy to have a break.
To tell you the truth, I was just adopted when I was 8. I lost my parents years ago. My mother died when I was 3, then my father died of a car crash on the way to my 5th birthday.
My grandparents adopted me after the accident. My grandfather died earlier, even before I was born. My grandmother was the image of a heavenly mother whom I looked up to. I loved her dearly and I was glad that I could find someone who cares for me and whom I care for a lot.
But she died as well.
Kind of a sad tale eh? I lived all of my life alone but I had several friends who care for me, even though I've got a rough past.
I stopped. A teardrop just streaked down my face. I expected that. I couldn't forget her, even though it's been 2 years. But I've learnt to move on and be happy...I know I can't stay forever...moping in the past...I know I've got a brighter future now...I've got great friends...good grades and a scholarship grant that I heard I would receive later when I get to the principal's office...
That's the reason why I'm taking a stroll down this lane...
I wiped it off and headed ahead.
Suddenly, I saw something on the road...and I rushed off to catch it...
