Easter with the Duval-Sterlings
Nick Duval-Sterling slept peacefully and restfully in the bed he shared with his husband. Chocolate and bunnies littered his dreams. He woke up and turned around, only to find Jeff missing. Suddenly, a loud giggle came from his daughter's room. Nick smiled as he remembered what day it was. It was Easter. He got out of his unbelievably comfortable bed and began the search for the source of the laughter.
The lounge was empty, the same could be said for the dining room, the play room and the bathrooms. Finally, one room remained: Lilac's room. Nick walked into the room, but stopped dead in his tracks as he witnessed what must have been the cutest sight ever- Jeff dressed in a bunny costume (ears and all!), singing to their 1 year old daughter. The backing track to Honey Bunny by All 4 Kids was lightly playing from the stereo in the corner of the room. Their daughter was giggling loudly as Jeff flopped his fluffy pink bunny ears from side to side.
All the boys at Dalton Academy could vouch for the fact that Jeff was a child at heart. He was well known as the boy with the contagious laughter. Jeff could never stop laughing, but nobody tried to stop him because sometimes (all the time), Jeff laughed so hard that tears came from his eyes. Nick loved his husband's childish side, but it hadn't been seen for a while as it was masked under all of the stress and responsibility attributed to being a new parent. Now, it was more visible than ever before.
Jeff had obviously passed on his giggle fits to their daughter, Nick had thought to himself as he watched the two blondes interact.
Lilac's eyes fell upon Nick, and she babbled excitedly, pointing at him. Jeff turned around, a rosy blush was evident on his cheeks.
"How much of that did you see?" he asked cautiously.
"Enough to know how cute of a bunny you make, Jeffy!"
Jeff groaned in embarrassment as Nick laughed at his reaction. Nick pulled Jeff in for a kiss, which quickly turned into a passionate makeout session between the blonde and brunette. After a few minutes, Lilac had obviously decided that enough was enough. She started to grumble, then she suddenly exclaimed "Daddy!".
Nick and Jeff turned around slowly to face their small daughter.
"Did she just-" Nick started.
"I think she did" Jeff stated, tears filling his blue eyes.
Their blonde daughter giggled, her eyes filled with wonder and delight at the new skill she had just discovered.
"Which one of us is 'Daddy', Nicky?", Jeff pondered.
A moment of silence passed, when the boys suddenly shouted... "I AM!" in unison
