A/N: This is dedicated to Mister Jackkkk who decided that after "Season's Greetings" in the Very Drarry Christmas arc, there should be a first kiss story. I hope you like this one!

A Very Drarry New Year

Diagon Alley reminds Harry of the images of Times Square he used to see on the tele.

Though it has only been a week or so since the two reconnected, Draco and Harry have met up almost every day since. Hermione was quite shocked when she'd dragged the information from Harry, and Ron is still looking a little green. At least he's talking to him again. And Hermione—bless her heart—had actually suggested bringing Draco along on New Year's Eve. Possessing a bit more diplomacy than he'd had in school, Harry had proposed this alternate plan.

He smiles as he realizes just how brilliant this plan is. He is able to say that he is indeed spending New Year's Eve with his best mates, but the area is too crowded for Ron and Draco to exchange anything more than cautious glances. Yes, Harry is quite pleased with his idea.

"What a marvelous plan, Potter," he hears beside him. He wants to sigh at the use of his surname, but there's no real malice behind it. Instead he grins and grabs Draco's hand, startling him. He drags the blonde through the throng of people and secures an empty space against the wall. "Better?" he asks.

Draco raises an eyebrow but nods once. Apparently Harry isn't the only one that still doesn't like to have his back exposed.

He sighs contentedly and doesn't release Draco's hand. They watch the crowd in silence as the New Year nears. He catches Hermione's eye and they share a smile. Ron is talking to someone that looks suspiciously like Seamus Finnegan.

A wave of delight moves through the crowd as people realize the countdown is about to begin. Harry turns to Draco, who quickly tries to pretend he was not staring. His smile deepens and he decides that now is as good a time as any to pull out his Gryffindor courage. "You know what they say about the New Year?"

Draco ignores the first exclamation of the countdown as he studies Harry. "What are you talking about?"

Harry thinks he knows but he obliges. "Whatever you're doing when the New Year strikes is what you'll spend the rest of the year doing." His description is less than eloquent, but he doesn't really care.

"Eight!"

"What makes you think I want to spend the rest of the year with you?"

"Six!"

"One can only hope." Then Harry is dazzled by an honest smile from Draco.

The blonde leans into Harry and searches his eyes. "You've always been incredibly optimistic." But it doesn't sound like an insult.

"Two!"

Harry feels his heart flutter and something squirms in his stomach. He leans into Draco's invitation, eyes sparkling with delight.

"One!"

It's unclear who finally closes the distance and it doesn't really matter. They share their first kiss in the middle of a crowd and they don't worry about the consequences. There will probably be a picture in tomorrow's paper, and they will have to decide to become a real couple, but those worries are for later. Right now it just matters that they are sharing this moment.

"Happy New Year!"

A/N: So...I know this is short, but after the week I've had it's surprising I was able to write it at all. I'm hoping the New Year brings better days at work and therefore better writing. ... I do hope you liked it anyway. Happy New Year!
