A dragon riders journey to the end.

He'd been with him all his life, and he still remembered, 60 years later, the day he'd met Toothless.

He was old and tired now, lying against his best friend on the bluff above berks north beach. His skin wrinkled and thin, clung to his bones. He looked out tiredly at the sea.

" Astrid would have loved this," he whisperd.

Toothless warbled tiredly. Hiccup smiled at the memory of his late wife. They'd had one child, a boy, who was named after hiccups father. Hiccups mother had been thrilled. But she was no longer around. She, along with gobber had passed three years earlier than astrid had, and that was 10 years ago.

Hiccup listened to his friends behind him. They too were older now, all having had a wife or husband, a child, then having lost that husband or wife. The Twins, Fishlegs and Snotlout to this day, had stuck by hiccup's side. The Twins and Snotlout were still immature, and Fishlegs and Hiccup were still the brainy dragon "kids".

"They are never going to stop are they," Fishlegs said with a small chuckle. Hiccup laughed a little with him. " nope, but it's ok, it's just like the good 'ol days." he whispered, looking at the other man.

Hiccup, being the oldest, was growing less energetic by the minute. Toothless was the same age, but he still had tons of energy left.

The others had moved so they were all in a circle around Hiccup, facing each other. Hiccup smiled and closed his eyes. "Guys, you need to… grow up." he said, his voice falling to a whisper. The others looked concernedly at him. " hiccup?, are you ok?". Fishlegs asked. Hiccup opened his eyes for a moment, then shut them again. " i'm just not as young as I was" he whisperd. " You all take care, tell my son i've passed on, ok?" he whisperd.

He took a breath. " Tell im, tell him to take care of Toothless…" he allowed a smile to play on his lips.

Then he took his last breath and his heart stopped.

The others watched as his chest stopped it's previous rise and fall pattern and became still. The smile slipped from his face and the expression fell blank. His previously crossed arms, fell to his sides lifelessly. Toothless nudged his rider, warbling softly. The group hung their heads…

The village held a funeral for the old man, having a celebration of his life. Singing songs of him and telling the stories of his many adventures. The village, led by Stoick the second, toasted his life and legacy. As king of dragon peace and son of Stoick the Vast.
