~Chapter One: Glowing~

The sky was painted with yellow and red. A lone figure walked on a dirt path lit by the everlasting twilight. The path went through a dense and quiet forest. The only sound was from the cracking of branches under the feet of the figure. They came to a stop in front of a condemned and abandoned mansion, or what was left of one. The roof had caved through the second floor, making it impossible to go to go there and the windows and doors were boarded up. It didn't seem like a habitable structure. A 'Notice of Destruction' was attached to the door, explaining that the building was to be demolished in three days.

"I guess I'll be leaving sooner than I thought," said the figure before climbing between the loose boards on a window. The figure reached insides its worn out back pack taking out a box of matches and a single ivory candlestick. They lit the candle and maneuvered through the debree to a seemingly habitable room. The figure groped the wall until it came to a lightswitch and turning it on, brighting the entire room so that everything could be seen clearly. The figure seemed to relax as the light turned on. Everything was silent while the figure went around packing random items into their worn out aqua-green backpack, until a sudden ringing started. Searching around the room, the figure pulled their hood down revealing red brown hair tied up in a high a ponytail. After finding the cause of the ringing they pushed their bangs behind their ears and lifted the ringing device, which happend to be a cellphone, to their ears.

"Hello?" The figure said speaking into the device.

"Hey, Zephyra! Still on for tommorow morning?" The voice on the other end asked in a seemingly masculine voice.

"I forgot about that, where are we going again? " the figure, Zephyra replied to her friend.

"The beach of course! Like we go every year!"

"Oh yeah, I won't able to make it this year."

"What?! We haven't got a chance to hang out at all this summer. I've been stuck with Terrance, who is always ranting about conspiracy theories, and Juliet who only ever wants to shop!"

Zephyra normally would have jumped at the chance to hang out with Tray and her friends, she needed to pack up her all of her supplies to get ready to leave. looked around the dingy yet slightly organised room, she had very little to pack up. Thinking a momment before replying,"Alright Tray, I'll got but only for a few hours."

"Yes! This will be the best trip yet! Don't forget to bring extra munny for pretzels and watermelon!"

"Will do, bye."

"See ya," Tray said hanging up the call.

Zephyra sighed and put her aqua pack on the ground. Taking off her star shaped necklace she slumped down into her makeshift bed, created by old books and table cloths, and thought, tommorow is going to be a busy day. She closed her eyes and drifted into sleep without noticing the faint glowing from her necklace.
