A/N: I like Barbariccia. She's one of my favourite characters from IV (no kidding, NPCs can be awesome too!) and she really doesn't get enough fic or game coverage. I'd love to see more of her and Kain's interaction in IV, that would make me so happy~ or if she got her own game. IMAGINE A GAME WHERE YOU COULD PLAY AS THE ARCHFIENDS :0
ANYWAY. I hope I haven't totally butchered her character (I know I have a bad habit of doing that sometimes :/), and I hope it's ok for a short drabble. I really shouldn't write stories when I should be revising for exams, but what the hey.

She is the wind, and she knows everything.

She knows how the land lay millions of years before it was cultivated and those humans tilled and built and warred over it. She knows why the birds fly and the men cannot, and it brings a smile to her lips to see them try. Though many would not expect it of her, she pities them for not possessing the power of flight, that gift that lets her soar and be free.

She is the skies, and she sees everything.

She watches as the children play and fall and pretend to be people they are not. It never escapes her notice when they play at being the Fiends; how she inspires them to be fearless and strong. She caresses the bodies of men who jump into her domain, and fingers her way through the hair of their feminine counterparts, delighting in how different these beings are to her.

She is cruel and kind, and grants second lives to those who beg. Her minions serve her well: have done for hundreds of years, and yet she tires of their triple-act. She confers with the other beings that share the torment of never owning a mortal soul, and together they choose the flesh that their Master brought with him. He is strong and proud, and she wants to break that façade.

She adopts a new guise and parodies the thing he cherishes most. She grasps his chin and whispers to him; he shakes his head and shuts his years, but she is the wind, and she has listened to his thoughts many times before, and she is right, and he is hers.
