CHAPTER ONE:
The door flew wide open as Samantha Forster burst through it in a flood of tears, But her tears weren't going to end there, Sam was about too hear something that would change her life forever.
"Sam, honey come and sit down" Her grams said
Sam sat, wondering.
Just then Brynna walked through the door closely followed by Sam's dad, Wyatt.
"Sam, seeing as it is the start of your summer holidays we planned a trip for you back to San Francisco for a holiday" Said her new step mother.
"What, for how long?" asked Sam.
"Just a few weeks" Said her Dad
"Ok" Sam said "I'll be with Aunt Sue wont I?"
"Of course" Said her Dad
The very next day Sam was packed and off to San Francisco. When she arrived her Aunt Sue greeted her warmly.
"Oh Sam, it has been too long" Aunt Sue said as they drove back to her apartment
"Yeah, I guess" Said Sam
After about two weeks Sam over heard her Aunt on the phone to Brynna.
"I think Sam has a right to know!" Said Aunt Sue
Sam creeped closer, wondering what Aunt Sue was saying
She heard the voice of Brynna on the other end
"It will tear her apart!" Said Brynna
"Not knowing will tear her apart!" Said Aunt Sue
"Maybe she should stay there just a few more weeks" Said Brynna
Sam had too strain her ears too hear what they were saying.
"Ok, but what do I tell her?" Aunt sue asked
"Just tell her things are quite and she can stay a few more weeks" Said Brynna
They hung up the phones and Aunt Sue turned to see Sam standing there.
"Well, so much for you not knowing" Said Aunt Sue
"What were you talking about?" Asked Sam
"Oh nothing much, you dad and Brynna are letting you stay for just a few more weeks" Said Aunt Sue
"How come?" said Sam
Aunt Sue sighed.
"Well. Things are quite at the ranch" She said
Sam's mind spun, what couldn't they tell her?
A week later she over heard yet another convosation.
"She's getting curious Wyatt" Aunt sue said
"I know, ok put her on" Her dad said "No sense in keeping it from her"
"Are you sure?" Sue said
"Well, he was her horse" Her dad replied
Sam went numb
Aunt sue handed her the phone
"Dad? It's Sam here" she said
"Hi hon, how are you holidays?" He asked
Ok, what is this big secret dad?" She asked
"Ok, but you are not going to like it Sam" He said
Sam waited.
"Sam, the phantom got shot and isn't going to make it" He said
Sam's whole body when numb
"What!" Sam said
"Im sorry Sam" He said.
"That's what you've been keeping from me!" She said
"Sam, we didn't want too tell you because we knew how much you cared for him" Her dad said
"DAD! How could you! I need to come home!" She yelled into the phone.
"Ok, no sense in not letting you say bye" He said
Two days later Sam was kneeling in the dirt at Willow Springs Wild Horse Centre
The Phantom was laying on the ground with Dr.scott
"I'll give you some privacy" He said
"Ok" Sam croaked
She patted the Phantom's shinning silver coat but Sam couldn't see much past the tears.
"I love you Zanzibar" She whispered so softly so that no one would hear his secret name.
