"YOU INSESSANT, NEEDY FOUR-YEAR-OLD!"
"OH THAT'S RICH COMING FROM THE BIGGEST TEACHER'S PET! HONESTLY, I'M THE NEEDY ONE?"
They were at it again.
"AT LEAST I DONT CHEAT OFF OF MY FRIENDS EVERY CHANCE I GET!"
"I'M NOT DUMB, YOU KNOW! I HAPPEN TO KNOW THINGS! I'M JUST NOT AS SWOTTY ABOUT IT AS YOU ARE!"
The fights would happen almost every day now. Between the two teens' friends, no one could figure out how to calm them down. The best idea so far had been thought up by Remus, who suggested a Calming Drought in their morning pumpkin juice.
"I AM NOT A SWOT JUST BECAUSE I LIKE TO BE ORGANIZED AND GET GOOD GRADES! HONESTLY!"
"HONESTLY, WHEN YOU'RE NOT BEING A SWOT, THEN YOU'RE JUST BEING A BUZZKILL!"
Even with the Calming Drought, the two had fought. The only difference was that there were far less broken objects at the end of the fight.
"OH NOW I'M A BUZZKILL, TOO? SORRY FOR TRYING TO STOP YOU FROM PRANKING INNOCENT FIRST YEARS FOR FUN!"
"OH COME OFF IT! THERE'S NO HARM DONE!"
"TELL THAT TO AMANDA DAVIDSON, WHOSE HAIR WOULD SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST FOR MONTHS!"
The fights were always exactly the same. First the insults, then they went off-topic...
"YES BUT THE FIRE DIDN'T HURT HER!"
"SHE HAD FIRST DEGREE BURNS ON HER EARS!"
Then the pranks that had gone wrong came up...
"LOOK, I SAID SORRY TO HER AND BOUGHT HER A FEW CHOCOLATE FROGS. AND IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS ANYWAY!"
"IT IS IF YOUR STUPIDITY IS ENDANGERING OTHERS!"
Then more insults...
"OH, SO I'M YOUR RESPONSIBILITY NOW, EVANS? I'M NOT FIVE!"
"YOU SURE ACT LIKE IT, POTTER!"
"WELL, WOULD A FIVE-YEAR-OLD DO THIS?"
And it would finally end with James pinning Lily down against a wall, or on a couch, or even on the floor, and snogging her so angrily and passionately that the two of them would completely forget what they were fighting about.
Sirius, Remus, and Lily's friend, Mary, sighed heavily. It was always the same with the couple.
"Do you want to go sneak food from the kitchens?" Sirius asked the other two bystanders.
"Sounds a lot better than watching these two snog," Mary said, rolling her eyes out of disgust. Remus nodded in agreement and the three friends left their two headaches behind.
