Prologue: The Announcement

'Good evening, we now have an announcement from our delectable President Amber.'

'Thank-you Julius. Good evening citizens of Panem, those of you here today have survived to watch our new country, rise from the ashes of the old. A new beginning for all.'

'Over the past year many wounds have been healed and all past sins forgiven, however no amount of time can heal the memories and the loss of so many. Thousands of lives were lost during the uprising, and we pay our deepest respects to those who have lost their lives. Something like that cannot be repeated unless, we want to eradicate all human life from the earth. And so, because of the uprising and rebellion in the districts, it has been unanimously decided by the new Government of Panem, that each year one male and one female will be offered up as tribute, to participate in the Hunger Games, to pay atonement for the lives lost.'

'The Tributes will be transported to the Capitol where they will make public appearances to gain sponsors who can send gifts to the Tributes in the arena. These gifts can mean life or death for a Tribute, therefore each Tribute will be appointed a stylist and prep team to make them presentable for these public appearances.'

'The Tributes will have training sessions to build up skill for the arena. When placed in the arena the 24 Tributes will fight to the death until one remains. The lone remaining Tribute will be crowned Victor and their District will receive gifts each month for the duration of a year. The victor will then become mentor to the next batch of Tributes from their District. They will instruct their Tributes on the do's and don't s of the arena and the Games. The Victor will be awarded a house and will receive monthly payments from the Capitol as repayment for being the Victor of the Games.'

'All between the ages of 12 and 18 will be immediately entered into the the reaping balls, the 2 Tributes for each district will be chosen by random selection at a public reaping held in your district. At 12 your name will be entered once, and at 13 twice and so on until you turn 18. if you wish you can sign up for Tessarae in exchange for entering your name more times. If your name is drawn, another eligible Tribute may choose to volunteer on behalf of the selected tribute to take their place in the Games.'

'This year the reaping of the Tributes for the Hunger Games falls upon June 15th.All citizens must be present at their Districts reaping unless they are on death's door, officials will be checking, failure to obey will result in public execution. I wish you all a Happy Hunger Games and may the odds be ever in your favour!'
